Mostly works but some areas need polish

Once you’ve got an appliance linked, things tend to work pretty well. It can be a little opaque right up until you’re finally able to make it happen.

The app itself it reasonable, but there is one specific area that lacks polish: Appliance Information. This is vital information that is difficult to transcribe, so why can’t I select and copy the serial number, model number, or anything useful on this page? Moreover, why does starting a Support case not automatically populate the form with data from Appliance Information?

These limitations created an awkward experience today while trying to start a support case for a hardware defect: I needed to fill out a form in the app that required multiple pieces of information that were available from Appliance Information, but the only way to fill it out was to write all of that complex information down on a piece of paper, then type it into the form. It seems like it could’ve just auto-populated, but maybe the developer just hasn’t gotten to it yet?

Easy to Use + Lots of Awesome Features

I use this Home Connect app for my Bosch washer and dryer and it’s awesome! I receive remote notifications when my cycles are complete on my iPhone, and it’s even better when I get notifications on my Apple Watch- it’s so convenient! I can use the app to set my washer to complete a cycle when I wake up in the morning, it’s like doing laundry in my sleep! I can also schedule a wash cycle for later in the day, to finish when I get home from work. If I have a change of plans, I can always change the cycle end time on my phone at work. This app also has recipes and a variety of added value elements. Highly recommend, it’s easy to use and navigate.

Disappointingly limited

We have a refrigerator and the app lets you see a few things remotely but is really limited feature wise and quite cumbersome to set up. A lot of hassle to get push notifications when someone leaves the door ajar, especially because the alerts don’t have the information you really need. I got a notice that our freezer temperature was higher than the set point, but there’s no way to see how warm it got (are we talking 6° or 50°?), whether the door was ajar at the time, or how long it took to get back to normal.

One time our freezer’s temperature alarm went off. Like the front panel, the app lets me see the alarm. It doesn’t show me how warm it got, the current temperature, silence the alarm, or access any kind of diagnostic details which might tell me whether we need to do more than tightly seal the door (Bosch uses incredibly weak door seals which come loose very easily). It also doesn’t allow you to clear the alarm display in the app which is frustrating when you want to know whether the problem is still happening. The marketing alleged that there’s some remote diagnostic capabilities but the support people said there’s nothing they can see and all you can do is get a support technician to look at it.
