Don’t waste your time
I had a dead battery in a parking lot and needed help. I contacted my insurance company and I was 30 minutes into waiting for their roadside assistance, so I googled other options. This app came up on a search so I put a request in to have my battery jumped. About 10 minutes later I had no eta from honk, and my issue had already been resolved with another company so I called customer service to cancel. When I asked if I was going to be charged a fee, the representative could not give me a answer and left me on hold for 20 minutes!!!! Meanwhile the company they sent out called me asking where I was located. She had never cancelled my request with the towing company!!! I asked to speak with a supervisor and finally Anthony called me back and apologized and said I would not be charged. I will be making sure I am not charged and will dispute it with the bank. If it weren’t for Anthony’s kind manner, this app would get 1 star. Proceed with caution if you use!!!
App saved my morning
It really sucked waking up to a dead battery today. The roadside assistance on my insurance doesn’t kick in for another week! But I needed the car now, and I didn’t really have time to call and compare tow companies. I Googled, saw Honk as an option, and found my way here. Using the app was super easy. I was pleasantly impressed. You do enter your credit card, and I’m usually wary of new apps asking for financials, but I knew I could just take it up with my card company if anything shady happened. After I entered my card number, problem, car model, and location, I got an estimate. It wasn’t any cheaper than if I’d called a tow manually, but booking it was so convenient and simple. The tow company called me 3 minutes after that and turned up within 15. 5 minutes of work and I was on the road again. I’ve waited HOURS before for AAA, so I this was a wonderful experience—so fast I didn’t have to worry about losing money from missed work. Though I hope I don’t need more roadside help anytime soon, if I find myself in this situation again, I’d absolutely recommend Honk.
Honestly should just be removed from App Store.
I made a request for help since I ran out of gas. I waited 45minutes for an ETA to even pop up on the app with no response. I eventually managed to get help from a friend. The app told me it would cost $75 to get me some gas to my car, but again, they never came.
I eventually gave their support desk a call to make sure that they wouldn’t come to my location to bring gas to a car that was no longer there. When they answered, we checked via my phone number, my last name, and the location of my request; according to their system, there were no reports for gas in the city I was in (Upland, CA). Eventually I gathered from the support team that no charge would go through if service wasn’t completed, so I bid them farewell and went on with my day.
This app should just be removed from the App Store, more than half of the reviews are 1-star reviews, and I understand why.
