- CMHC is increasing its homeowner mortgage loan insurance premiums effective March 17, 2017. For the average CMHC-insured home buyer, the higher premium will result in an increase of approximately $5 to their monthly mortgage payment. The new rules and calculations will be in effect on March 17, 2017 - Toronto's land transfer calculations has increased and now matches with the Ontario LTT. Also the first time home buyer rebate is now up to a maximum of $4,475 which means that for homes less than $400K, there is no MLTT. - First time home buyers in British Columbia are now fully exempted for homes less than $500K and partially exempted for homes between $500K to $525K.
