Space Chef, developed by the Lawrence Hall of Science at UC Berkeley, is a fast-paced action game designed to provide the starting point needed to build healthy meals using simple, readily-available, and nutritious ingredients. Space Chef requires quick thinking and even quicker fingers as you race against the clock to sort through an array of ingredients and construct healthy recipes. Along the way, you’ll unlock food factoids, discover new Space Chef robots, and have access to over 60 healthy recipes. Start your intergalactic grocery list today...those Sweet Potato Blueberry Squares won’t make themselves! All recipes used in Space Chef were modeled from the healthy recipe collection at the “What’s Cooking? USDA Mixing Bowl” website. To help kids learn more about health and the human body, try out the other apps from the Lawrence Hall of Science funded by the National Institutes of Health Science Education Partnership Award program.

This game is very easy to learn and great fun to play. You have to choose the correct ingredients to make healthy recipes before the time runs out. There are settings to turn off the music and set the difficulty level. Couldn't stop playing!

I love the fun this game creates. It will definately put a smile on any kid's face 4 to 90! As a teacher I can see that it will help with concentration and visual conceptualisation. BUT the fun is the great takeaway!

My nephew is already in love with this game. He picked up the game instantly and is now showing his younger sister how to play. As the pears and brown rice fly by, it is slowly sinking into his post Halloween candy-soaked brain these healthy foods can be combined to make some super yummy meals. After a few hours he walked away wanting to try some combos from the game and bugging his dad to try some of Space Chef’s favorite recipes. Super fast fun and learning! What more could you ask for from an educational app?
