Study 385 surgical instruments with image quizzes, practical review tools, and a focused reference library for CRCST and CST learners.
Surgical Instrumentation helps you learn surgical instruments by sight, function, category, and specialty through a clean, modern study experience built around instrument recognition and reference.
With 385 instruments included, the app gives you a large visual study library for building familiarity with instrument names, profiles, and usage across specialties.
This app is designed for learners and professionals who want to strengthen instrument knowledge in a practical, visual way — including those in sterile processing, Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) study, and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) learning.
Rather than focusing only on test-style review, Surgical Instrumentation centers on what matters most: recognizing instruments, understanding how they are grouped, and building confidence with real instrument images, flashcards, reference topics, and guided quiz modes.
Inside the app, you can:
• Browse a library of 385 surgical instruments
• Study instruments by image, type, category, and specialty
• Open detailed instrument pages with descriptions and learning context
• Use flashcards to study one instrument at a time
• Build visual recognition with Image Quiz
• Practice at your own pace with untimed review mode
• Reinforce knowledge with Multiple Choice and True / False
• Read helpful reference articles and instrument study topics
• Review selected sterile processing and surgical tech support information that connects back to instrument learning
Built for visual learning
The app is designed to help you move beyond memorizing names alone. Study the instrument image, notice defining features, compare shapes and working ends, and strengthen recall through repeated visual exposure.
Great for:
• Surgical instrument study
• CRCST-related instrument review
• CST-related instrument familiarity
• Sterile processing support learning
• Visual recognition practice
• Quick reference and study refreshers
Whether you are learning instrument basics, sharpening recognition skills, or reviewing categories and reference content, Surgical Instrumentation gives you a focused way to study instruments in one place.
Perhaps good database, not able to explore it (Now fixed)
Dr Gil95
I bought the app because of the good reviews, seemed like a good database, but I was not able to explore it because it freezes and closes not being able to pass letter B of the index. Either the developers do something about it or don't buy it, would be useless Edited: much better after the last update, thanks for fixing the issue, keep up the good work

Update 4/20/18 . Please download the new update 1.3.8.Update- We were able to recreate some lag in scrolling and will be releasing a new Version ASAP. Thank you for using Surgical Instrumentation Thank you for buying the Application. There is definitely nothing wrong with the App going past the index "B". We have tested on many iPhones and iPads without any problems. There could possibly be a problem with your device. What version of IOS and what device are you using to use the app? We will look into this problem and try to replicate and fix if successful. We are very sorry that you are having problems. You can request a refund from Apple if you feel this does not work for you. Thank you for using Surgical Instrumentation.
Excellent!

I’m very happy to see the developers read my review and fixed the scrolling lag. There is so much information in this one app, not only do they have a ton of instruments, there are quizzes, flash cards, and A TON of info on all departments within sterile processing. Definitely a 5 star app and worth the money! Plus, if they keep updating with more instruments then it’s a great investment. Very happy. Thank you :)
Developer Response
Thank you for the thoughtful review and for noticing the improvements. I’m very glad the updates made the app more useful for you. Continued feedback like this has helped shape the app over time, and I truly appreciate it.
This app would have 5 stars if...
would be 5stars if...
...If the instruments were divided by subject. Example: General surgery, OB-GYN,Eye etc.It would be a lot easier to navigate and easier to focus on what we need to learn. Other than that is is a solid app and a great resource.
Developer Response
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback. The app has been improved quite a bit since this review, and organization and study flow have been strengthened over time. I appreciate you pointing out what would have made the experience even better.
Add filter options please.
Frank0013
App is good for instrumentation learning images are high quality with a nice detailed caption. Two features that would really make this a 5 star app would be.A filter option. Clamps/Forceps/Retractors. Etc..A second filter option by cases! I feel this feature is a must need.
Developer Response
Thank you for the feed back. We are currently working on a filter option and hope to implement in the next release. Thank You for using Surgical Instrumentation.
