2020 is the PAST? NO WAY! Movie buffs know that 1984 and 2001 are still in the future, and so is 2020, right? Anyway, check out this knob-filled screen. It's the console of a spaceship that jumps into other dimensions. Once you load up some sound files and take off, you'll be blasted off into the unknown. WHOOOOOSH!!
## To BEAT, or not to BEAT, that is the question
2020 is a BEAT-MACHINE. Just imagine smashing German DAW software, a Swedish hardware beat machine, and a cable-tangled modular synthesizer system into one, then shattering it and picking up a single fragment. That's exactly what 2020 is! Sounds complicated? Don't think, BEAT!
## Features
2020 is a SEMI MODULAR BEAT-MACHINE. It doesn't offer a traditional timeline view but instead lets you manipulate, randomize, wire, process, and perform beats in real time, all in a single window. With 2020, you can explore millions of beat patterns on the fly.

Most instrument modules come with versatile filters built in. Load a sound file, tweak the pitch, envelope, and LFO, season it with the filters, and a new sound is born.
### Sequencers
- 4x grid sequencers
- Sequence length can be set from 1 to 32 beats.
- Trigger, accent, and volume can be sequenced at each step.
- Resolution of each beat can be set to 1/4, 1/8, 1/12, 1/16, 1/20, 1/24, 1/28, or 1/32.
- Chance of each step playing, and of extra hits being added, can be set.
- 2x transposers
- TRP1: Scale-based transposer that randomly modulates pitch based on the set scale and probability.
- TRP2: Step sequence transposer that steps through a sequence of up to 64 notes, one step per hit.
### Wiring modules
You can route sounds of each instrument module to 6 Mix Buses, 3 FX Buses, and Send Bus. The sound input to the FX Bus can be processed by 14 patchable modules with freely configurable wiring. Additionally, each patchable module can receive trigger information (CV) from connected instrument modules and use it for effect control.

### Randomization
Modules played by triggers can randomize their parameters on every hit, within the range and probability you set, for endless sound variations. And the feature called "Dejavu" turns ALL parameter randomizers into generative sequencers. It remembers up to 32 generations of random values and replays past ones at a set probability and length. If you are a heavy user of Eurorack and have generated CV sequences with things like shift registers or a module called "Turing Machine", imagine a parameter control chain built with more than 350 of them! BEAT is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get!
### Mix and mastering
You can mix the sound input to the 6 buses and send it to the 2 master buses. Both masters have an equalizer, a bitcrusher, and a filter; MST1 adds performance effects applied in the order you press them, and MST2 adds a reverb. Each then ends in a master chain of drive, multiband compressor, stereo width, bass enhancer, tilt EQ, maximizer, and transient enhancer.
### Perform with controllers
You can control almost all parameters with MIDI, OSC, and keyboard. Controllers can be assigned in LEARN mode, giving you even greater control over your performance.
### Sync beats with Ableton Link
2020 supports Ableton Link for tight sync between apps on the same computer or network.

- Added a bass enhancer.

- Added a scope with a loudness (LUFS) readout.
- Note: a project saved with 1.5.0 or earlier can sound different. Its master settings are carried over when it opens, as closely as the new controls allow.
- Improvements to parameter mapping:
- Mappings can now be edited in the preferences window.
- A single controller can now be assigned to multiple parameters, and a parameter to multiple controllers.
- Each mapping can now cover just part of a parameter's range, such as 50% to 100%, and the range can be inverted so that turning a control up turns the parameter down.
- Added Arrange Nodes to the FX patcher's right-click menu, which tidies the layout without changing the sound. Nodes can now be selected and moved together.
- Added a metronome, with its own METRONOME output in the audio settings.
- Added an LFO to each mixer strip, controlling its level and its distortion.
- Minor bug fixes and improvements.
