I like this app.. but I think it needs to be updated. There’s A LOT of thing that’s aren’t on the app and you as the user would have to add and when asked if I think a product is vegan I can’t even get a visual of what you’re talking about and I can’t see the ingredients which is a HUGE PART of knowing whether or not the product is or isn’t vegan. Add these few things and you’ll had one hell of an app that’ll help beginners!

So “free w/ in-app purchases”? Sorry, but I couldn’t launch the app without a subscription. It immediately asks to start a 3-day, free trial. That’s the shortest free trial I’ve ever heard of. On top of that, I got the app to find out if something was vegan. I definitely felt that this item wasn’t and wanted to verify. So, fire up the app, sign up for a subscription… as we all know, “Free trial” means subscription. It’s on you to cancel. Anyway, I scan the product and it asks me “Do you think this is vegan?”. Now, I understand that it’s crowd-sourced, but to expect someone to pay money to be like “What do you think? Three other people don’t think that it is.” is offensive. I can go on Reddit for crowd opinion without any verification and NOT pay $4.99/wk! (Default Subscription). What stinks is that I’m sure there’s some value here that warrants a 4-star rating, but I’ll never see it. I’m immediately turned off by this ham-fisted subscription model and an app that asks me what I think when I’m looking for answers. Only my therapist can answer my questions with questions. Again, I bet there’s some hard work and value here, but this app has already ruined its chances with me.

This app definitely scans things like it’s supposed to and it has helped me identify some vegan stuff when I needed help, as well as given helpful advice for new vegans, but somewhere along the line I found out I needed to back up my phone or possibly restore it and when I re-downloaded the app on my iPod to test to make sure I could restore The purchase of my subscription instead of having to pay for a new subscription altogether at the same time I am paying for an existing subscription, I didn’t see one. Also, there was no two month free trial. It charged my account immediately. I looked for some kind of support/customer service team to notify about this and couldn’t find anything. This is making me second guess my decision to subscribe to this app.

Scanned 2 items after pressing the carrot and the app asked me to enter product name and brand plus whether or not I thought it was vegan. Now the app simply states “Looking for your product...” with a small spinning animation when I press the carrot. It no longer allows me to scan anything. No apparent functionality. Also, another reviewer states that this app is to simply add products to their database, but does not tell us which app is meant to tell us which products are vegan or not. Overall, pretty worthless and disappointing that this was on Apple’s app of the day section in the App Store.
