The government has announced the implementation of Seventh Pay Commission effective from 1 January 2016, that would hike the salaries and allowances for over 1 crore central government employees and pensioners by at least 23.5 percent. In the 7th pay commission salary slab has been increased more than 20 percent. The revised pay package will cover teachers from 119 centrally funded technical institutions — IITs, IISc, IIMs, IISERs, IIITs, and NITIE.
