The 80,000+ words in this game’s database were transcribed according to rules established by Madeleine Marshall, author of The Singer’s Manual of English Diction. Her method of transcription promotes a standardized pronunciation of the English language that is favorable for lyric diction.
The English Lyric Diction Workbook by Cheri Montgomery (www.stmpublishers.com) provides exercises that follow Marshall’s rules. The IPA Dictionary (coming soon) is a companion app that allows the user to look up words according to their phonetic spellings.
