Heroic Battle is a challenging strategy board game that requires logic, deception and memory. Play against a friend online or a computer opponent: Probe, the Computer Stratego World Champion. You can start a new game in seconds and pause a game to complete at a later time. Heroic Battle is easy to learn. Each game is different. You and your opponent set up your flags, bombs and other pieces and then venture out to try to capture the other’s flag. But the catch is, you only learn the identity of your opponent’s pieces during attacks. Many of the pieces—miners, scouts, the spy—have special properties that you’ll discover as you play. One of the great features of Heroic Battle is that you can create and save your own setups. Each setup produces a different kind of game. Do you prefer fast, wide open play or a slower more conservative pace? Do you want to fortify your flag and defend it or just hide it somewhere and dare your opponent to find it? It’s up to you. Heroic Battle is fun to play with a friend on the same device or a random opponent online. One of you taps to create a game and the other taps to join it. Simple as that. Or you can play against Probe, the built-in computer opponent. Probe is the three-time Computer Stratego World champion, which makes it one of the best AI game engines available. Probe is suitable for play from beginners to experts and can be set to your skill level.

High Quality, Solid Playability

This is a high quality game. It may not be flashy or equipped with high def graphics, but the playability and user friendliness is top notch. Having the ability to switch the rankings, save setups, choose whether or not Probe is aggressive, among others, is paramount for someone who sincerely respects the Stratego tradition. Thank you for a wonderful game. I play it often, having recently taught my sons who enjoy it as well, and have even defeated me a time or two. My one piece of feedback, if you can do anything about it, is to screen the ads. My young sons play this game and I have seen some pretty inappropriate ads here and there.

This is the fantastic Stratego. At least for me, ads have been no problem. Pretty much just one ad before each game, and it doesn’t interrupt a game after that. Must have been updated based on some of the old reviews? Simple and easy to use, with customization of 3 board layouts that you can go between, and the ability to change your layout before every game, including the ones you customized. The A.I. isn’t perfect, I’ve seen it act funny a few times, but I’ve had some really great games where I’m either shocked that I win or shocked that I lose. This is exactly what I was looking for. Plus the ability for local multiplayer AND pass and play? I haven’t played against anyone else yet, but that is fantastic.

This app has been a good one against the computer (Probe). It has been exciting to see the multiplayer option launched in the not too distant past. On iOS the multiplayer will connect to the game but the game board will just not show instead there is just a black screen with a few other game icons. Therefore the game is currently not playable in multiplayer (online) mode.

This app has been a good one against the computer (Probe). It has been exciting to see the multiplayer option launched in the not too distant past. On iOS the multiplayer will connect to the game but the game board will just not show instead there is just a black screen with a few other game icons. I’ve been playing Stratego since childhood. I played against my brother when I was about 11 yrs old. This was in the 60’s. Once I found this game (Heroic Battle) many years ago available in electronic format I was pleased to see that the gameplay was great. But, honestly it wasn’t challenging enough most times. Fast forward to Nov 2025 and the DEV released a significant upgrade which definitely made it more challenging. "Probe" HAS evolved. It now has the capacity to "bait" you into a trap or away from your intended target. However, I do have a potential concern: There have been 3 instances since the update that I targeted one of Probe’s pieces that had just moved. But when I struck the piece to challenge it suddenly it was a Bomb which killed my piece. Dev, please test for a bug like this. All in all, THANK YOU for an impressive update.
