System Eye Dual-FFT Analyzer
PA frequency response analyser
Only for Mac
$4.99
Tune PA systems faster. Live transfer function, phase and coherence, automatic delay finding and stored traces to compare every speaker. Made for live sound engineers.
System Eye is a real-time transfer function analyzer for your Mac. Compare what goes into your sound system with what comes out, and see exactly what the room, speakers and processing are doing to the signal.
Built for live sound engineers, system techs and installers who need fast, reliable answers when tuning a PA.
MEASURE IN REAL TIME
• Dual-channel measurement: pick a reference and a measurement input on any Core Audio interface
• Live magnitude, phase and coherence plots
• Impulse response view to see arrivals and reflections
• Built-in pink noise generator with selectable output channels and level
ALIGN WITH CONFIDENCE
• Automatic delay finding locks the reference to the measurement in one click
• Fine-tune delay manually, or set it directly from the impulse response
• Delay shown in milliseconds and distance, in metric or imperial units
CAPTURE AND COMPARE
• Capture traces with a single keystroke and overlay them on the live measurement
• Name, color, show and hide traces in the Trace Manager
• Compare speakers, positions, and before and after EQ side by side
• Export any trace to CSV with frequency, magnitude, phase and coherence
READ THE DATA YOUR WAY
• Fractional-octave smoothing from 1 octave to 1/96
• Selectable averaging from fast to very stable
• Show or hide the phase, coherence and impulse plots to focus on what matters
• Keyboard shortcuts for start/stop, capture, generator, auto delay, smoothing and averaging
System Eye is designed to stay out of your way: a dark interface that's easy on the eyes in a dark venue, a full-screen layout, and controls that respond instantly.
more This one is exactly the stripped down version of what I need to phase align loudspeakers, without the crazy expense of Smaart or the others.... and am very grateful it exists. Thank you!

The main objectives of this release are fixes and improvements:
- Fixed: plots didn't redraw properly on resize, resulting in a flicker.
- Fixed: plots failing to draw normally when paused
- Fixed input level indicator appearance when 1-channel input is used (1-channel source isn't what we need, but we should keep things beautiful nevertheless)
- Fixed: missing HF data on phase plot at low smoothing values
- Fixed: On capture, the trace name text field wasn't focused for the name edit (use Return key)
- Audio device channel names are displayed along the numbers in Audio i/o settings
- New Auto Delay stabilization is employed to prevent random delay jumps when no valuable data is available
- The impulse response right-click menu was updated, with options to manually set the delay to the value on the graph or reset it to zero. Also, you can now zoom out the plot vertically.

Important bug fix: Start / Pause functionality was fixed, and the Pause button is now working properly. Sorry for inconvenience!
Crafted with a love for sound and music.
Main Improvement Areas:
• Visual Appearance
• Audio Device and Channel Layout Management
• Mathematics Behind Measurements
• Bug Fixes and User Experience Enhancements
Detailed Improvements:
• Visual Appearance Enhancement: We have upgraded the predefined color palette for traces, ensuring a more balanced look in terms of brightness. The plots have also been optimized for better visibility on modern Macs.
• Audio Device and Channel Layout Management: The app now remembers your last selected input and output device, as well as the channel layout for each device. If you connect your preferred USB audio interface while the app is running and it has been previously selected, it will automatically switch to that device upon connection and restore the channel layout (including measurement, reference, and generator assignments).
• Mathematical Improvements: The mathematics behind Frequency Response measurements has been significantly enhanced, resulting in more stable and noise-free readings. A new time-averaging technique has been employed that is more efficient for lower frequencies while also responding quickly to changes across the entire spectrum. Additionally, the math behind Auto Delay (Impulse Response) has been refined for greater stability and precision in delay measurements.
• Preferences Screen Update: The preferences screen has undergone both visual and internal improvements for a smoother experience.
• Delay Functionality: The delay text field is now enabled even when Auto Delay is active, allowing manual entry of delay (note that entering a value will disable Auto Delay).
• Graph Interaction Improvements: Clicking on the graphs now cycles through all visible traces, with enhanced cursor readout providing more informative feedback on the current cursor position in the selected trace.
• Trace Management Enhancements: In the Trace Manager, right-clicking on a trace row will bring up a menu that now includes a “Rename” option. You can also rename a trace using the menu, double-clicking the trace row, or pressing Return while a trace row is selected.
• Impulse Response File Naming: When saving Impulse Response data as a .wav file, the suggested filename will now include the current date and time, eliminating the need to type a new name each time.
• Increased Frequency Scale Precision: We have improved the precision of the frequency scale for more accurate readings.
• Bug Fixes: Stability enhancements have been implemented, fixing crashes and other bugs to provide a more reliable user experience.
