Improving but still some issues
Mipsalawishus
Version 6 (124) has some great improvements to the UI and overall performance. However, I am noticing the images appear lower in detail than when viewing in another app like Preview. Would really like to see this addressed, since the reason for zooming into a photo is to see the detail not visible when constrained within the window of the app. Also would like to see the option to read subfolders. Keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing more improvements.
Developer Response
Thanks for your feedback!Great to hear you like the UI and performance improvements. Since version 6.1, the slideshow can also include subfolders, and we’re always looking at ways to improve image detail. Thanks for using the app!
Great improvements. Small backslide.

I LOVE this app, and it’s always served my needs. The new version is slick and clean. I’m very happy with the interface changes and the renewed focus on power hidden by simplicity. Two things are a bit disappointing in the new version: images are not as crisp as they should be and appear slightly fuzzier compared to other applications. Also, while you can now define all your own keyboard shortcuts, I do miss the simplicity of using modifier keys alone to control certain display options. That said, I’m sure I can define and remember a few new keyboard shortcuts.

Thanks for your feedback!Great to hear you like the new interface. We’ve noted your points about image sharpness and shortcuts and will keep them in mind for future updates. Thanks for sticking with us!
Version 6 (124)

This version broke animated webp files and otherwise ruined much of what was special about it. It’s sad to see a good program go downhill.
Developer Response
Thanks for your feedback.Animated WebP files are fully supported again in version 6.1.
Thumbnails Don't Generate
Voenix Rising
The only time the sidebar thumbnails generated for me was the VERY FIRST TIME I opened the program. Thereafter all I see are black squares. There is no way of contacting the developer directly, and the "support" page you're led to also has no way to submit bugs. With the deprecation of 32 bit support, my years-long use of the classic "Just Looking" app was no longer an option and I was seeking a replacement. Phiewer provides that basic animated gif viewing functionality, but its refusal to display thumbnails and its constant nagging you to allow access every time you open a new folder (even though I gave it full disk access in System Preferences) are annoyances that need to be addressed by the developer.
Developer Response
Hi Voenix Rising, thanks for your feedback. In former versions file operations in the background where not recognized by Phiewer. If you have opened a folder all thumbs get cached. If then something happens in the background, like renaming or moving files. Phiewer was not aware of that. But this is fixed in newer versions. You can also just hit the reload button to refresh the thumbs manually.
