This app is a great way to stay informed about what’s going on in the black community. I do have a suggestion. Can we have an option to choose the type of notifications we receive? So for example, I receive many “entertainment” notifications, but I would only like to receive notifications based on major news in the black community. Also, there are times where I click on a new notification and the related story doesn’t display. It’ll take me to the app’s home screen instead.

Thanks for taking care of this! Issue resolved I have really been enjoying this app over the last few months. However, over the past couple of weeks, it has stopped giving new content from The Root which is one of my favorite sources for news. It seems like a glitch but it’s a big one for me and I hope it can be fixed soon.

I like being able read what’s going on in the black community. So far in a week I’ve read about issues and situations that are not covered by national media. My one gripe is what so many ads? Why so many pop up ads? It’s distracting and annoying. Having to click the “x” to close and ad, only for another to pop takes away from immersing in the article. Other apps such do not have that. I will continue to use Black, but I cannot recommend it to my senior relatives who do not have the manual dexterity capability to keep closing ads. Please do something about that.

Black has been an amazing experience. I really value and rely on news during my daily commute to work, and this platform provides news about my people than regular political updates. Living and working in a white space 24/7, the app makes me feel connected to my community. I look forward to the new features implemented in the future like a social aspect. It would be awesome if I could share my thoughts with others.
