Ratings and Reviews
With much trepidation I recently purchased an order of 8 books from Mimeo. I had used iPhoto and Apple Books for three books and was extremely pleased with the quality. I'm still upset that Apple discontinued this option, but I had to take a chance of someone else, so I decided to give Mimeo a shot. I create my books on Photoshop and drag them in as JPEGS, sizing them to fit a full 2-page layout. I wasn't sure if Mimeo would accomodate this, but they did. I wasn't sure of the print quality, but when I spoke with a Mimeo rep, they assured me the quality would be just as good as my Apple books, as Mimeo did the printing for them. I also tried to get a 20% discount, but the option did not show up when I completed it on iPhotos. However, when I spoke with that rep, she was more than happy to apply the discount to my order, even though I had completed it the day before. The books arrived very quickly (five days) and were excellent! The quality is indeed on par with Apple - the cover pages are both printed on the book and on the cover slip. The binding appears to be solid, the colors are clear, print clarity is terrific. I would highly recommend using this and I'm already looking forward to my next project.

It's great to hear you are customising the app to suit your personal needs, and that you have been able to make that work. Sometimes customers do miss the 20% discount code entry that is sent via email - but we are always here to do a 20% discount on the placed order by getting in touch with the Mimeo Photos chat support team on our main site at mimeophotos.com - so you never miss out! Thank you so much for your feedback, and we look forward to printing many more projects for you!

This app is not user friendly in the least. If you are one of the unfortunate people who are discovering that Apple has discontinued it's publishing in iphoto, I'm sorry to say this altenative is a terrible substitute. Converting a prepared photo book from iphoto will not be a smooth process. I lost photos in the process and could not import them again without diminished resolution quality. Twice while attempting to edit my photo book once it was converted (still with missing photos) the app suddenly added additional pages. A 56 pg book grew suddenly to 109 pages the first go round, and 75 pages the second time. The drag and drop feature is awkward and not as seamless as the apple version. And there are symbols employed on the photos without any explanation. Check marks or exclamation points- Are they telling me that the images are successfuly imported? Are they telling me that the image quality is good or insufficient? I have no idea. I'm also discovering that if you need to buy in bulk you will have to pay individual shipping for each one- regardless of shipping to the same location. Unfortunately, there is no alternative I can find that can easily convert previous work done in iphoto into a presentable photo book. Now I have no Christmas presents to send to my extended family and have wasted at least 30 hours on a nonviable project. It is not worth the trouble. They should not have done this. Do not waste your time or money in this app.
Mimeo is Good and Getting Better
I have made over 30 photo books on Apple and was devasted when they canceled the program. No one was more unhappy than I was when I had to re-learn a new way of making a book. With patience, I got used to the Mimeo program and find it to be quite good. I have now done 5 books on Mimeo. I find the quality of the books to be better than Apple. Also, for some reason, mine upload on Mimeo easier than Apple too. I have had a customer service issue or two and have found the Mimeo folks to be very helpful. I understand that certain "issues" are still being worked on, so I am hopeful that it will even be better over time. One thing I find frustating is that whatever photos you import into your book project cannot be deleted from the project. Thus, you have to keep scrolling over the unwanted photos to get to the ones you do want to use, which is tedious. The Mimeo folks tell me they are working on this. In the meantime, I try to be more selective about importing photos into the project, rather than just dumping a bunch in at the outset and deleting as I go, which is what I uesd to do with the Apple program.

Thank you so much for your feedback about our app and photobook quality, it’s always great to get comments from our customers about their experiences with Mimeo Photos.
We have been working hard to address issues by developing and refining our app, products and service. We have a lot of features planned for future app releases, including the ability to remove photos from a project that are not required or unused, which I have no doubt our customers will find very useful, so thank you for highlighting this feature request.
If you ever need assistance from us in the future, you can use the chat support service located on our site here: https://www.mimeophotos.com/
We look forward to printing many more photobooks for you!
