Hay Pricing

Estimate Standing Hay Value

Free · Designed for iPad

It’s that time of the year when farmers and rural landowners negotiate the sale of standing hay. In WI alone an estimated 2.5 million acres of dry hay and haylage are harvested each year with dry hay alone accounting for $80-$100 million in market sales. Unfortunately, there is not an established commodity market for hay like corn or soybeans. Finding reliable hay market information can be a challenge, and trying to determine a value while the hay is still standing in the field can be even more difficult. This app was developed to help farmers and landowners more easily determine the price of hay, as well as negotiate the sale or purchase of standing hay. This app can also be used to look-up historical hay price information. Users of this app can also enter projected hay yield, cutting schedule and harvest costs to calculate a standing value per acre.
