I regret jumping the gun and quickly migrating over from Bumble BFF. I liked the profile page a little better off the bat, but hate that filtering for friend matching is gone. Being able to filter by age, distance, and language was important to what I’m looking for in friends. I don’t have the time or patience to scroll through and do my own “filtering”. It’s also weird that I can make groups, don’t get a warning with how complex these groups are what with the different chats, and there is no way to find other groups. The notifications are already annoying or broken too; one of my previous matches also migrated and is the only person in my chat tab. So why is it that in the span of 30mins I’ve received 3 push notifications *while in the app* encouraging me to open the app because someone said hi? Having come from a full-fledged app, I am not interested in a project with less features than the one I was previously using.

Both good and bad…

I started using Bumble BFF several years ago after moving to a different state. It definitely helped me connect with some nice people. It’s nice that the new BFF app is separate from Bumble. However, the new app is not an improvement overall. The format isn’t nearly as good. I’ve also noticed that my more recent connections have been quick to delete their accounts. Like I’ll have a match or two, write back and then poof! Account deleted. That’s their choice, but I can’t help but feel like they might be deleting the app in haste out of frustration. One thing that can’t be controlled are the types of people who join the app…I feel like most aren’t really all that serious about making new friends. I’ve been fortunate enough to make some new friends through BFF but I’m certain that not everyone has had that good fortune. There is way too much political noise on BFF - too many people emphasize where they stand on politics and only seem to want to interact with those who have that exact same viewpoint. Life goes much deeper than politics. Politics is not the only topic of conversation out there! I personally don’t care how anyone leans politically, I care about who someone is as a person. The app is actually kind of toxic in a way, and that is unfortunate. But if you’re lucky, there are diamonds in the rough.
Regret leaving discord 🙄 Too many changes at once, lack of accessibility
lulugaudy
Everytime yall make an update on this app its so evident yall are not prioritizing your neurodivergent communities and users. The constant unnecessary aesthetic changes in the user interface and experience is confusing and hinders community members from familiarizing themselves with the app. I have a geneva community that i migrated from discord to geneva with thousands of members. Im literally ready to go back to discord because of geneva's lack of creative direction. I understand that bugs and updates are apart of the growing pains of supporting new companies but it just feels like geneva has become a lab for developers to "try new things" at the expense of actually solving for who their target audience is. Yall built your social platforms on bringing book communities together only to pivot the app to a glorified version of MeetUp and the updates and pivots havent stopped since then. Its a shame that you all dont see the potential of this app and are constantly making it more difficult to access, understand and customized based on community needs. Most of these updates are redundant and bloat the user interface and often dont even work as intended (im not even gonna start on the notifications page 😤). Again as someone who has thousands of members in my community please hear this bit of feedback: every single time yall update the app, THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY SPENDS THE DAY COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW MUCH WE ALL HATE IT. Members even go as far as to leave the app all together because you all are not designing with everyone in mind.
Filters

I absolutely hate the way the filters do absolutely nothing. Why on earth am I seeing 19 and 20 year olds when that’s so far out of the age range I set?? Why have the filters if they don’t do a blessed thing? Then the distance filter: instead of being in actual miles, it’s “close,” “nearby,” “far,” “wherever.” How are we supposed to know the app’s interpretation of these words and how they compare to what we consider close or nearby? It doesn’t matter though because I’m still getting people from 3+ hours away regardless of the setting. I get shown more people one hour away than I do from the actual city I live in (and it’s a major city). Why even have filters?? Oh, and I just realized that all the people I’ve blocked still show up in my feed. Wtaf? And before the developers insult my intelligence in a reply, yes, I’m sure the filter settings are saved. I’m sure the location on my profile they should be basing the distance off of is correct. Yes, I have updated to the most recent version of the app. Also, while I think the group feature on this app has more potential than the last, it is extremely chaotic and hard to navigate. Also, the only way I’ve been able to find groups is if the people in my feed are in them and I click on them through there.

Thanks for your feedback! We're sorry to hear about your experience. Please contact us at support.bumblebff.com/hc/en-us/requests/new if you believe there's an issue with filters. The good news is that more features are coming very soon, so you’ll have more control over your Discovery feed. As for Groups, they remain a core part of BFF. Keep an eye out for future updates, as more features are on the way. 🌼
