I used to use Cacophony years ago and then the version I had became obsolete on newer Macs. I haven't needed to use an audio recorder for years but today, I wanted to record something and was searching for free audio recorders. I tried a couple but was unhappy with their quality. I decided to search the App Store and am quite pleased to have found that this software is still supported and available.I don't hear much, if any, background noise with recordings in Cacophony compared to other audio recorders out there so the quality of the recording is superb. By far this is the best simple to use audio recorder I have ever found. It is most definately is worth the price.

It's simple, easy to use, and does what they say very well.I am surprised, however, that the ability to save in MP3 format isn't available. That's a bit uncommon, especially when free audio editors, such as Audacity, offer this feature. It's my hope that this will be added soon.
