Press Space on any file in Finder — preview code, Markdown, ZIP, folders, images and 3D instantly. New: .lrc lyric previews and adjustable line height.
iPreview perfectly optimizes and supplements macOS native Quick Look capabilities. It fixes the core pain point that macOS fails to preview special code files without suffixes like Dockerfile and Podfile, uncommon programming files, as well as 3D models, modern images and archive files. Meanwhile, it upgrades the native basic folder preview, adding intuitive directory structure browsing that the original system lacks.
This extension brings dual improvements: filling the preview blank of unsupported file formats and enhancing the preview experience of native-supported files. It provides professional code syntax highlighting, Markdown & Jupyter mathematical formula rendering, 3D model animation preview, and decompression-free archive viewing, with dark mode and personalized style customization.
Effectively make up for the functional limitations of the native Quick Look, bringing richer, more detailed and more professional preview capabilities to improve your daily development and office efficiency.
Features:
———— Folder Preview ————
• Upgrades macOS native folder preview: system default only shows basic info, while iPreview enhances it with full directory structure preview.
• Instantly browse complete internal file structure and tree directory without opening the folder.
• Displays file quantity and detailed directory overview to speed up folder browsing.
———— Source Code ————
• macOS native Quick Look supports partial common code files, but fails to preview special suffixless dev files such as Dockerfile and Podfile, plus many uncommon programming formats. iPreview adds full preview compatibility for these missing formats, covering 30+ code types including JS, JSX, TSX, Vue, CSS, Swift, Java, Python, Go, Obj-C, JSON, YAML and more.
• Greatly enhances native code preview experience: delivers professional syntax highlighting, multiple exclusive themes, customizable tab width and visible line number display for all coding files.
• Fully adapts to system dark mode for eye-friendly code preview.
———— Document ————
• Render Markdown, Jupyter (IPYNB) and AsciiDoc files perfectly.
• Accurate mathematical formula typesetting and display.
———— 3D Models ————
• Supported multiple 3d Model file, .3ds, .3mf, .ac, .ase, .b3d, .blend, .cob, .dae, .csm, .dxf, .fbx, .lwo, .md2, .md5mesh, .mdl, .ms3d, .nff, .obj, .off,.ply, .q3o, .smd, .stl and many more.
• Multiple render modes: physics effect, bounding box, wireframe, skeleton display.
• Native 3D animation preview and playback.
———— Images ————
• Adds preview support for WebP & AVIF image formats not fully covered by native macOS.
• Auto display image resolution and size information.
———— Archive ————
• Preview ZIP, RAR, 7Z, GZ, TAR compressed files directly.
• Display file name, size and modification date without decompression.
———— Subtitle ————
• Preview SRT, ASS subtitle files with clear formatting.
———— Other ————
• Native preview for README, LICENSE, Dockerfile, Podfile and dev configuration files.

near to perfect

Since a lot of QL plugins stoped working on big sur, I have to switch to this.2 suggestions:(1) Is it possible to allow adding customized files, such as .out, .script, .pdb, to be viewed as plain text?(2) Can you enable text selection in the QL window? Thanks.
Very dissapointing

I got this extension so as to have better 3D file preview support (including FBX) and it really doesn't work very well in this regard. First, the preview is not shaded in any way so it is very difficult to discern the shape of any 3d model. Also, you can't spin the model in the preview like you can with Apple's default QuickView implemenation! So if the model doesn't come up showing the side you need to see good luck to you. To make matters worse, this overrides Apple's QuickView which worked just fine with STL files for exmaple so now those exhibit all this bad behaviour as well. Finally, the Finder preview image doesn't spin either and when you drag the image a blank rectangle just moves around the screen as if you were dragging and dropping something. This extension is very rough around the edges and needs some serious imrpovements. Will have to just delete it to get at least some of the functionality I had before back.
Awesome extension for developers

This extension does an awesome job of formatting various programming files for QuickView. I purchased it becasue my current solution didn't support yaml files which I use a lot in my software development work and this does a great job of formatting them.Unfortunately, it initially broke Markdown support which I also rely on heavily so I only gave it 3 stars, but the developers quickly addressed this problem and got everything working as advertised. I'm very happy I purchased this extensions and the developers are very responsive. It does everything I need now. 5 Starts!
Developer Response
I'm very sorry to bother you. the markdown preview is actually supported, but there is only a problem on Big Sur. We have submitted a restoration version, but it has not yet been approved. Thank you again.
Good replacement for Glance
geminilabs
I previously used Glance, but after the project was archived on Github and removed from the AppStore, I went looking for a replacement for Big Sur. This works just the same as Glance, problem solved!I do have trouble with previewing images, it's supposed to show the image dimensions in the Quicklook titlebar but it doesn't...I'm guessing this is due to Big Sur and I hope the developer fixes this soon. Overall, I'm very pleased.
Developer Response
Thank you very much for your support and feedback! We have fixed the problems on Big Sur, have submitted it to the App Store, and can be used normally after approval. We also hope that you will pay attention to the recent update reminders. Thanks again for your support!
- Compatibility with macOS 27 for a more stable experience.
- Fixed a crash that could occur when launching the app on older versions of macOS (such as macOS 15).
