Your color panel is now everywhere: open colors from Widgets or Control Center, use Siri & Shortcuts, sync with iCloud, multitask on iPad, and use VoiceOver.
Turn your iPhone or iPad into a clean, full-screen color light. Pick any color, adjust the brightness, then hide the controls so the display becomes the light — with nothing else in the way.
Screen Light Color is useful as:
→ A studio light for accent or soft fill lighting
→ A lightbox / light table for tracing, drawing, animation, film negatives, radiographs, and more
→ A color reference and matching tool
→ A night light or screen flashlight
→ A red light for stargazing, night walks, or darkroom use
→ A beacon, visual signal, or mood light
Made to stay out of your way:
→ Open colors from Home Screen widgets or Control Center
→ Use Siri and Shortcuts to open the app and set colors
→ Use Split View and multiple windows on iPad, each with its own color
→ Temporarily disable touch to prevent accidental taps or palm input
→ Use custom in-app screen brightness without changing your device brightness elsewhere
→ Navigate the app with VoiceOver
Want more control? An optional in-app purchase unlocks:
→ Precision white-balance controls for warmer or cooler light, including magenta/green tint
→ Hue, saturation, brightness, RGB, and HEX controls
→ Saving as many custom color swatches as you want
→ Sync saved colors across your devices with iCloud
→ External-display support, so you can turn a TV or connected display into a larger light panel using AirPlay or a cable
Simple when you want it. Precise when you need it.
I’d have to give this game a five star rating. My issues with it are few and far between. My only problem is touch sensitivity, and how difficult it may be to find the exact color again. When you touch it, it moves. Other than that, it’s a wonderful experience that makes finding colors both fun and visually interesting. The visual aids of true color wheel, and bar at the top help with finding different colors. All with unique names and the addition of their shade, and saturation given in numbers. The setting with hue sliders is the cherry on top. You can find the hex codes easily and make your own colors with exceeding ease. Where the main setting may be fun, this is functional. Overall, a great app. Wonderful and conscious design, very user friendly, visually stimulating, and aesthetically pleasing. Great job!
Amazing App
Cucumber320
This app is the perfect app for a flashlight! Like no joke it won’t turn off if you leave it alone! It is so much fun when you first get it and you start playing around with different colors. Do note that if you want to save specific colors you need to pay 2.99 a month, but if you don’t care too much about that then this app is for you!
Would like Split View support
tster17
My primary use case is to use this a light box for scanning film (slides and negatives) using my iPhone. It will work fine for this. However it would be nice if it also supported Split View. I’d like to be able to use it to fill one side with a neutral color while reading something (ebook, web article) on the other side. I usually have my iPad Pro 12.9” with Magic Keyboard on my desk, and it feels more natural to me to have the reading side in portrait mode (or at least square) than to have 2 columns or one really wide and difficult to read column (with no ability to control the margins, typically). As it is, I’ll probably try to find another app that fulfills these use cases and also supports tracing use case.
Developer Response
Hi, thank you for the review and suggestion. That’s a very good point, I will add the multitasking/split view support very soon—it’ll be useful for various use cases.
Very good but annoying
Jeff Pham
One of the most annoying thing is that as soon as you touch the screen, it changes the options or it pops up the menu. I tend to hold my phone screen as an flashlight but the menu keeps popping up which gets annoying. Also, you cannot pick preselected colors. There should be a way to prevent the menu from popping up when you touch the screen without paying money to get these features. Guess I'll have to try a different app
