Im a submarine person all in all, and want to say submarines were done DIRTY in this game. Of course submarines would be overpowered if they were more realistic, but still. They are as easily spotted as a surface ship, have extremely limited time underwater even though they can dive incredibly deep for pretty much as long as they want-as long as crew has enough food and other logistical aspects. Also the torpedo trail. ☹️. I thought we left that in ww2 when germany developed electric torpedoes. Wth. Torpedoes dont leave trails anymore, and they definitely dont make huge splashes as they move through the water, unless the commander is an idiot and decides to let them float on the surface as they propel. And then they do no damage. You saw that periscope footage of that Iranian frigate right? The mark 50 literally lifted the ship out of the water. Need more damage!!! The thing i would do to balance all of this is by making submarines much more complicated and harder to command, like adding actual depth gauging, sonar stuff and silent running to stay stealthy. And also? Add depth charges. With more advanced sonar, if a sub is pinged, with depth charges a sub is pretty much done for. Let depth charges shred subs to pieces. One last thing: Make torpedo and missile storage more realistic. Good modern subs usually carry around 8 torpedoes and 16 missiles. I doubt all of this can be added, but at least make submarines actually serve their purpose in being stealthy.
Hello! Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. It’s clear that you’re very interested in submarines and modern naval warfare, and we really appreciate the effort you’ve put into explaining your point of view. One thing worth mentioning is that Modern Warships isn’t designed as a full-fledged naval simulation. It’s primarily an arcade-style PvP game, which means realism often has to be balanced against gameplay, accessibility, and match pace. Many mechanics have been intentionally simplified to keep battles fast-paced, exciting, and fun for a wide variety of players. That said, we fully understand your observations regarding submarine stealth, submarine range, torpedo behavior, sonar mechanics, and weapon effectiveness. Although some of these elements differ from their real-world counterparts for gameplay reasons, your suggestions regarding deeper submarine mechanics, improved stealth gameplay, sonar interaction, and anti-submarine countermeasures are very insightful and valuable. Submarines are designed to be stealth-oriented vessels, but they must also remain detectable and counterable to ensure fair gameplay for all ship classes. Finding the right balance between realism and competitive gameplay is always a challenge. Thank you again for your passion and for helping us improve Modern Warships. We’ll be sure to share your feedback with the team and take it into account as we continue to refine the game’s balance and mechanics.
