amazing widget

Definitely one of the best music widgets I’ve ever used. The only issue is that the widget stops refreshing itself and stays still after closing the app, which to my understanding shouldn’t be a problem because the other two music widgets (musicview and tunetrack) work well without opening the app even though sometimes there’s little latency. My guess is widgetpod might have different working mechanisms. But still I think refreshing without opening the app is very necessary to me. I hope this feature will become available.

Terrible Navigation

I can’t believe I paid $2.99 for an app to create a widget that redirects me back to the app I just paid for. The widget shows the last song played, but won’t play the song pictured unless you select “Toggle Playback” but that only allows you to play and stop that song. If you want to access another song or playlist, you’ll have to use the original Apple Music app, because double tapping the widget takes you back to the widget app instead of Apple Music. If you select “Redirect to Player App” it won’t play the song pictured and opens the widget app first, then redirects to Apple Music. So basically, you are paying $2.99 to open a free app much slower. This could easily be a 4 or 5 star app if one tap played pictured song and double tap opened Apple Music.

Developer Response ,

I understand you expect more for what you paid, but the way app currently works is limited due to limitations set by iOS. I’m assuming you were using Small sized widget, and for small size, it isn’t possible to have any buttons within them and only possible to have on action for tap, no double tap or anything. But if you can make some space for the Medium Sized Widget, you can use playback controls and have ‘Redirect to Player App’ if you tap the icon on top right, and even have another action set up for the widget tap. Talking about why WidgetPod opens first even when you have set it to redirect, it’s again an iOS limitation as similar to how an app icon opens the parent app, widgets open the app too, and we don’t have any control over preventing it or doing anything else just like an app would have no control if it gets opened or not when you tap an app icon. I hope you understand these limitations we have to deal.

Thanks for reviewing.

Great Widget, thanks for not making it subscription based.

At this point it is ridiculous on the part of Apple that we have to pay for a widget that plays music that the phone should already come with. However, it is a great widget and I did not hesitate to buy the pro version because the developer did not get greedy and go subscription-based model. Keep it up. Yes, yes, I know developers also need to put food on the table, but some these apps are getting out of hand with ridiculous subscriptions. Keep up the good work.
