IMPORTANT! To buyers/users
UglyBeatsBeautiful
People on here have no reason to complain about this. They are clearly seasoned render artists, all of whom have at some point used and loved Marmoset Toolbag. THIS IS NO DIFFERENT. It’s baffling how complain-y people get over senseless pet peeves such as the title of the app or documentation which is useless for a standalone app such as Marmoset Toolbag —and obviously this. You load a model by dragging dropping, add lighting, textures, move stuff. Thats what a standalone renderer does.
Spent hours trying to make any version work
Terrordisco
I saw octane was free on mac, so I downloaded this version. It didn't work within Cinema 4D, so I went online to see what version I could try. I spent hours downloading and trying various versions. Now I assume there's no trial for any octane product that's easy to use.I can't imagine who'd want to use a stand-alone renderer either. And the app isn't really trying to explain its purpose. OTOY should do some market research. And then the leaders of the company should actually try to listen. I'm gonna ignore Octane for a long while after this.
Confusing
Ransom978
While it wasn't intuitive, I managed to get Octane X installed, created my account, and it's running. But there seems to be no documentation for this version of Octane on the company's doc site. Is Octane X the same as OctaneRender Standalone Edition? I have no idea. Nor do I see any way to bridge the gap between Cinema 4D and this version of Octane which exists without a C4D plugin. So, yeah, I'm confused. Gonna close it up and come back in a month to see if anything has improved.
