Direct Local Eats is a food delivery app, where consumers can purchase food from local grocery vendors and restaurants. Vendors are charged only 5%, as opposed to 20-35% with the incumbents, responding to the urgent need as numerous vendors on incumbent platforms had to raise their prices in response to the high service charges and to avoid losing money in an already low bottom line industry. Direct Local Eats was designed with the purpose of using the Local Driver Co-op members’ fleet as the delivery service for orders on the platform, allowing it to be significantly cheaper than the incumbents on the consumer side.
