Update: I wish I could give 6 stars. Hats off to the developer! The app was just updated and I saw that the pen colors were added and the backgrounds were fixed for dark mode! That was a real quick turnaround and it shows the care that goes into this app. I’ll be recommending it to my friends as well. 13/10!really love how the app functions. It’s simple and I liked that there was a one time purchase rather than a subscription. Best app I’ve found for my Apple Pencil for sudoku! I would just suggest maybe 2 more pen colors? The white and blue can be hard to see. Finally, not all of the backgrounds show up which is disappointing because they look like they’d be cool! Otherwise, fantastic job developers.

This sudoku app is full of great features, and I absolutely love that the app is compatible with my apple pen! The learning mode is so helpful, and I love watching my average solve time get lower and lower as I figure out how to more effectively solve the puzzles. The ads are few and far between, so while premium isn't an absolutely necessary purchase to not get slammed by ads like with some apps, I highly recommend purchasing premium purely to support a great app and its developer(s)! Everything is beautifully designed, user friendly, and any sudoku lover, from beginner to expert, will get hours of fun and entertainment from this app. :)
Best ‘paper’ game for Apple Pencil

This is by far the best implementation of an Apple Pencil interface for a game traditionally played on paper. Other games require you to write a particular way in a particular area of the screen and still occasionally struggle with handwriting recognition. In this app, the input is intuitive in that you write directly in the square, and your handwritten number remains on screen (though the app digitally converts it behind the scenes and changes color if the app is unable to recognize the number). Very accurate, very smooth, and the closest approximation to playing on paper.

Really great sudoku app. Was looking for something that was similar to doing puzzles on paper, and this excels. Simple and not too bloated. The features that are included work very well. I especially like the hint feature - the hints are very detailed and improve my understanding of strategies. I upgraded to the paid version since it is so well done. Developer suggestion- the “Expert” level has become quite easy. I would love to see more difficult levels added.
