Focused more on persuading me into buying the pro features than helping me with my learning. On my first lesson, the ai went on a tangent about how i NEED to buy the pro features to proceed in the lesson, which is a blantant lie, because on the app store it says that this app is free to use, just has pay to access features to extend your learning. After about 5 minutes of telling it that I wasn’t going to pay, i was able to move on. Still annoying, though. It also pops up in literally every sentence they generate. They only let you do one course a day. I also chose the option to have one 15 minute lesson per day and the lesson ended up taking 5 at most. When I started my VERY FIRST lesson on the app on the beginner level, they didn’t walk me through anything at all, just told me words to say in another language and gave me a REALLY vague word bank. I had to use Google on my very first lesson. You should probably actually teach me the words before expecting me to SAY them with perfect accent. Also it counted my pronunciation of “desu” wrong saying that I need to pronounce the U even though I KNOW that you’re supposed to pronounce it like “dess.” Theres barely any languages to learn, too! You literally have to pay to do everything, it’s just not worth it. 7 dollars a WEEK for one 5 minute ai lesson is insane. When I saw the reviews after use, I was genuinely so confused. Are we even using the same app?? I don’t know if it’s any different because I’m doing the Japanese courses, I know most of the people I saw in videos using this app were doing the Spanish courses. Anywho, unless they plan on adjusting the ai and making the FREE learning app FREE for people to access, I’m just gonna stick to Duolingo. So should you.
