• Why Does GeoSmile Pay Me to Move?
GeoSmile is run by GeoTechnologies Inc., a digital map data development company in Japan.
In order to keep digital maps in ideal shape, real-life data that allows for the depiction of live information (ie traffic jams, road closures, ideal routes, etc) are desirable.
After the successful launch of TRIMA, which currently has over 19 million downloads in Japan, GeoSmile was created as the global version of the application.
Due to the aid in creating digital map services TRIMA and GeoSmile app users provide the company through anonymized location data that allows for the collection of prior mentioned information, app users are compensated through points to be exchanged for e-gift cards.

This app has a few glitches that hopefully will be fixed in an update. That said, if you are looking to earn between $10-$20 a month then this app is very much worthwhile. Just stay away from the surveys! They make you spend between 5-10 minutes to see if you “qualify” to take the survey and then when it says you do t, you only get 0-250 gems. Seeing how it takes 50,000 gems to get a $5 gift card, that is a huge waste of my time. I really like that it does not matter what mode of travel you are doing: walking, driving, even flying; you earn constantly. And if you use their free triple time then your tanks add up much quicker. They even have a 100,000 top prize on the scratch off and wheel. I thought it was false advertising for them but I got the 100,000 gem prize twice in this last week. I have been using this app for about five months now and am pleased with it. I had one time when there was a “connection failure” during a redemption that took my gems without giving me the gift card. I contacted their Customer Support and within a few hours I had a response and my gems back.

I typically do not write reviews/rate. From time to time I have, however, on non legitimate apps. I am a compliance manager VP for a very large bank, so I am cautious when downloading apps etc - I tend to read everything regarding the developer’s legal/ privacy notice. I must say this is one of the best apps not to mention paying apps I have ever come acrossed - not only is it user-friendly, but it is also fun. Kudos to the developers and a big thank you to their support team. I have cashed out several times via PayPal and/or Starbucks. The big thank you is to the support team for having such a quick response to an inquiry I had regarding PayPal and when it would be available again. It was within or less than 24 hours and within that response there was no reading between the lines. It was straightforward as to when if at all PayPal will be offered again. Moreover, nothing is free-one must watch ADs in order to achieve gems. This apps most certainly gives you chances to obtain them. The more ADs you watch, after traveling and/or walking, the more gems you will receive. The only small issue I run into occasionally is “loading ADs.” Other than that- GeoSmile do not change a thing for you will be the #1 very soon. Companies will be begging you to play their ADs and in return everyone (developers and consumers) will win.

Very ad-centric and low payout

This app was recommended to me and so I thought I would give it a try. The interface is pretty easy to use, and I’ve been able to figure out how it works without any issues. My main qualm with the app is the very low payout that you receive for your actions. If you do the math one full tank would give you 1/10 of a cent in USD, unless you watch an ad. However, even if you watch an ad to get a scratch off ticket for a higher payout, you still may only get half a cent to two cents on the majority of your scratch offs (I can frequently reveal two penguins for the two cents, but always seem to just miss the third penguin - so I’m not certain what the payout is for getting all three). Plus the most of the ads seem rather long. The other ways of earning aren’t much better for the time invested. The most I’ve gotten for a survey is 39¢. And as for the offers area, there’s not much available that I want to sign my life away for. These also seem to have diminishing returns, giving you more initially and then lowering the payouts as you go (I could be wrong about this, but it seems to be the case so far). Overall, if you’re just looking for an extra incentive to get moving/walking, then this is better than nothing. You’re definitely going to have to walk a lot though in order to get an e-voucher! If my math is correct, it would take 1,000 days of walking 10,000 steps each day to get a $10 e-voucher (that’s if you’re not watching ads or doing surveys/offers). A very minor incentive in my opinion, but like I said, it is better than nothing.

OK here’s the issue w the credit card complaints. When you’re signing up and you’re ready to create your account, the bottom of the page has a green button with an OK in it. The directions tell you to tap on the button that says OK. But the OK button that you’re seeing is not part of GeoSmile, it’s to sign you up with Norton security and that requires a credit card. In other words, it’s an advertisement that is very poorly designed to lure people into clicking and signing up. When you tap the OK button, you’re taken out of the app to a website that is no longer GeoSmile. What I suggest is that GeoSmile adds a notification that says you are leaving the app anytime you click on something that is an ad. I am very savvy when it comes to the Internet, websites and game programming and this site/app is not really designed very well to be user-friendly because of mistakes like this. This app does not require any personal information other than email address. The downside for me is that I’ve never received my notification to confirm my account because it’s never been emailed to me. I already know to check my spam and trash folders and it never arrived. There is no option to “resend“ and that’s another problem with the designing of this app. I don’t want to login with Facebook or Google or any of the other options. I want to login with my email address. So I cannot set up an account with GeoSmile.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused. I assume you have tapped on an ad disguised as an app button. We have blocked such malicious advertisements.
