A+ Koine Study Tool
Koine Greek is unique. It is largely represents the New Testament. This provides a great base of statistical modeling. As you probably know, Metzger has published a list of words based on statistical usage models. Unlike modern languages, where 2000 or more words must be memorized before you can hold basic conversations, much of the Greek New Testament can be read with a knowledge of as little as 1000 words. Thus studying vocabulary based on such modeling is quite important.
This software uses Metzger's vocabulary list. Initially you will start by studying the most frequently used words. As time goes on you will move on to progressively more difficult words.
Studies have shown that some people will forget a word as much as 52 times before finally committing it to memory. "A+ Koine Study Tool" uses a unique statistical analysis method to measure your progress for each word. After some time the software knows which words you know and which words you do not know. It then focuses on trouble words until you know them. If on the other hand if you really know a word already, just tell the software to remove it from your study list. It is that simple.
artificial emersion...
As a person who is fluent in two languages I can say without doubt the best way to study a foreign language is to use emersion. However, in the case of Koine, this is not a possibility. By quizzing you brain regularly and repetitively, every day, you can fool your brain into feeling emersed. What better way to study than by using your cell phone. You carry it everywhere. You can make use of time otherwise waisted, by studying vocabulary. Your phone actually becomes an intelligent flash card system, helping you to remember!

One thing that would be a great addition is if the app remembered where you left off last on a particular vocabulary list. I find myself going through the same section if vocabulary because any time I minimize the app (not even close it) it restarts at the beginning. So getting to the end if a particular list if vocabulary is almost impossible shirt of studying for very long periods of time. Some lists I haven't seen the end of.

Helped me get through pretty much all of mounces 1000 card box set. I don't use the test feature and haven't found it useful. And my only other complaint is it doesn't have the alternate forms for verb tenses which would be very useful, if not almost necessary. I do wish there was something a bit better out there but this works great while studying on the go.

Not a bad little app. Only recommendation is to build in the ability to start over or reset it. I accidentally misread the "Know (don't retest)" button as Don't Know (retest). The first two words are now listed as being known with no obvious way to reverse it. The developer's website does not offer any new information on the app, and there is no support available. Cannot locate an e-mail address anywwhere on the website. Looks like the developer is primarily a photographer and writing apps is a hobby. Aside from the inability to reset it, it makes a great study tool.

The new update is great! Now the app is not just the billion question quiz it was before, but the new update adds a flash card option, as well the ability to quiz and study only on words with a certain number of occurrences. As a student in Bible College I will be using this App MUCH more frequently in preparing for my Greek classes.
No changes to the app. Some people could not upgrade to iOS 4.3 so I have lowered the requirements of this app to iOS 4.0
