Good product but the developer has better

While I like Tembo this developer makes a better search product called HoudahSpot. HoudahSpot is more powerful and gets updates on a more regular schedule. You won’t find it on the app store but I encourage you to hunt it down. Version 4 is especially good. Tembo needs to have features like the Finder’s search tokens to be more powerful. More view options would also be good. Unfortunantly version 2 doesn’t add these features either.

I rated it only 3 stars as I would like the option to “delete” a file from the app once I locate it and so far have not found an option to do that.

I'm a photographer and I deal with thousands of pictures at a time. I often just need to find an image that I've worked on in the last few days and it could be a jpg, CR2, or png and I just want to click image created since yesterday. As it is, I need to type in .jpg or .png because I certainly don't have the name of the file on hand. This was one of the reasons I don't love spotlight all though once you've typed in a string in spotlight and done search modifiers, you can delete the text to widen your search. If this were fixed, this could easily be my go to app for searching.

Back in my PC days I used a search product called X1, and it is the thing I miss the most in making the switch to Mac.Ever since I switched to a Mac in 2007 I have been looking for a great search tool that was fast, easy, powerful. I have been using Tembo for about 2 weeks and, for the Mac, it is easily the best tool I have used.I have tried Houdaspot (way too complicated, with a nuisance sidebar), easyfind (slow, not that great), Find Any File (Great if you know the file name, but no content searching), and several more that I have forgotten about.Get Tembo. It is very powerful and fast while being very easy.Is it as good as X1? No, but it is pretty close.
