家紋(かもん)とは、特に日本において古くより出自といった自らの家系、血統、家柄・地位を表すために用いられてきた紋章である。単に紋所(もんどころ)や紋とも呼ばれる。 英語圏で用いられる象徴(Symbol)は抽象的な図案を指し、紋章(Coat of arms)は視覚的な図案を指すが、日本の家紋は「兜飾り」の意味から Family crest、Crest といった英語で表現されている。これは西洋の個人紋章(Coat of arms)の構成要素であるクレスト(Crest)は一族・家族で共有することがあり、日本の家紋と同様の機能を有するからである。日本名を音訳して mon、kamon とする場合もある。 本アプリは日本の家紋を450種類(植物、器財、建物、動物、文様、自然、文字)以上収録しております。 家紋の種類、図案、姓氏、意味を説明した上、テストと一覧などの機能も付いています。
