I’ve tried several puzzle apps for the computer and this one is THE BEST. The graphics are better than any other available apps or free puzzle websites and there are plenty of puzzles to get you started. When I completed all of the available puzzles in Jigsaws Galore Free, I paid a couple of dollars and purchased Jigsaws Galore. Once I completed those, I downloaded my own pictures from the internet, and a few of my own snapshots as well. The photographs available on the internet arendless. I take fifteen minutes or so to search, choose and download e a bunch of pictures from the internet. Architecture, beaches, trees, animals, flowers, you name it and you can find it. Then, in the Jigsaws Galore app, click on the ‘create’ button, then 'create picture from picture file.’ Search for the picture you want from ‘downloads,’ then click ‘open.’ When you do this, a box labeled, ‘create a puzzle’ will appear. From there you can set the number of pieces you prefer, I like mine around 275. You can also set the puzzle piece shape and other options as well. I do puzzles with my grandchildren too. They help find pictures they want to use for their puzzle. Then, set the puzzles to six, twelve, twenty-four or more pieces depending on their age. We share special one on one time and now when they visit, they always want to do puzzles with Nene!

I wouldn’t normally be compelled to write a review for an app that already has years of rave reviews and 4.9 stars. But I only recently discovered Puzzles Galore and it is absolutely digital puzzle perfection. My only regret is not having found it years ago! The dev has created such a genuinely enjoyable experience that once you get accustomed to the controls (I love that my mouse scroll wheel rotates the pieces!) you practically forget you are even doing a digital puzzle. If you are a puzzle enthusiast and new to the app, I recommend exploring all of the options first so you can set up a more challenging experience (turn down snapping, allow random piece rotations, etc.). Also, if you are looking for more puzzles or specific themes, the puzzle packs sold on the dev’s page do work with the App Store version! (Hint: there are even some additional free puzzle packs to be found.) And with the latest release the app now runs native on Apple Silicon chips so it is FAST. Finally, the best part of this app is that I no longer have to find places to store yet another finished puzzle! (So my wife now loves this app too! :-) )

I tried the free version, and it was ok. A few quirks to figure out, but reasonably relaxing, except for the low resolution of the images, which I found annoying. Some of the images are more annoying than others, blurry, with jaggies and artifacting. I thought maybe just the free version used lower res images and if I bought the paid version and used my own high res images to create puzzles that it would be better. Not so. The created puzzle images are still low res with jaggies and artifacting. The silly magnifier bubble doesn’t improve the res. There are three choices in the app for creating puzzles from your images; but two of them are dumb. You can fit the image to the app window, or use original res, or stretch to fill the app window. These choices affect the display of the “zoom” action while solving the puzzle, and the final image displayed when the puzzle is completed. Only the first choice is useable, which reduces the res of the image for both puzzle solving, and final image to a res which is less than the size of the app window. So it does pixel replication on a device with a good display screen. The second choice creates a final/zoom image at the original res but zoomed into the center of the image, and the app won’t let you scroll or change zoom to see anymore of the image. Dumb. The last choice just stretches the image aspect like a fun-house mirror, also dumb. I can’t fathom what the developer was thinking with the image handling and why the app doesn’t use the full resolution of the display screen. This is really annoying with some images.

I broke my leg last year and ran out of things to do while laying around and someone recommended doing jigsaw puzzles on the computer. So I went searching and I found this app and it has been great! I love the app so much I had to buy the upgraded version. It is so worth the money! It has the most options I’ve ever seen in a jigsaw app. I love how I can increase or decrease the number of pieces in a puzzle. You can adjust the size & shape of the pieces as well and the size of the board too. I truly enjoy the customization. It adds to the variety. I love having trays to sort the pieces into and the option to have the picture as a shadow on your board and you adjust how visible it is! There were quite a few options and settings that it took a little bit of time to get familiar with them all but the instructions are great and now I find it is the easiest app to use. It truly is a great app! I just wish there was a version for the iPad. I just got an iPad and was looking for it to install but was disappointed to find it’s not available. But it made me think I should finally write a good review. I just can’t say enough about it!
