I have the LS220 and it seems to be working well. It’s a little hard to say in this review where the issues are (this app or the NAS). Buffalo says they support “iTunes Server” too bad that Apple no longer supports it, and hasn’t for years. It has a “TimeMachine” service for the backup server that forces you to use AFP and Apple is going to drop that — you will get a warning message at every backup that this needs to be updated.

NASNavigator2 is so far out of date that it is just short of useless. What you need to know is that sometimes is locates your Buffalo NAS drive, and sometimes it does not. When this happens, the only sure thing you can do is go to wherever you have your NAS drive and router located, turn the drive off then on, and hope that the network will recognize it. If you keep the drive set to “on” full-time rather than “auto-power,” you may find the drive on your desktop for days or even a week or more. But, then it will disappear again; and you will likely have to go through the above procedure again in order to have it show up on your network. Here is my best advice, if you can afford it. Buy yourself a new Synology NAS drive. Remove your drive(s) from your Buffalo drive, and install them in your new Synology drive. Synology seems almost made for Mac. Unlike Buffalo Tech Products, which, judging by its software and customer support, seems to be on the edge of going out of business, Synology seems to be a healthy company that makes good products and cares about customers. (I have no business or personal interest in Synology whatsoever.) Getting out of Buffalo Products and their neanderthal way of doing business seems to be the only way to escape these the above described problems.

Just bought a new Buffalo 8GB NAS and set it up. Neither my Windows PCs nor Mac could discover it on the network. Checked the link light on the switch that it was connected to, and no light at - not green nor yellow meaning the unit itself can't even get on the network so that's why it couldn't be found from within the Buffalo locator utility. I called their Support line, and a pre-recorded message stated if you needed technical support, to go online to their web site. I'm not doing that...I'm taking this thing back to the store today.

- quick install instructions are garbage- doesn't find NAS device on the network. (Gives error to "check wifi connection which is odd since the device is connected via a wired/ethernet connection- returning this device today... If I can't set it up out of the box, I am not wasting time trying to trick it into working
