English–Myanmar dictionary with 91,000+ entries, 21,500+ Burmese headwords, offline. Camera lookup, in-context meanings and English correction with Apple Intelligence.
Since 2011, iAbidan has been one of the most widely used dictionaries in the Myanmar community. Version 4 is a new app from the ground up: more than 91,000 English and Burmese entries, a cleaner reading experience, and tools that help you learn, not just look up.
EVERY WORD, EXPLAINED PROPERLY
Each entry is laid out like a good learner's dictionary: UK and US pronunciation with IPA, clear numbered meanings in English and Burmese, real example sentences, the patterns a word is used in, collocations, synonyms and antonyms, word family and origin. Every word inside a definition or example is a link, so an unfamiliar word is one tap from its own entry.
SEARCH BOTH WAYS
Type an English word or a Burmese word and reach the same entry. Suggestions appear as you type, and a misspelled word brings up "Did you mean…" alternatives. More than 21,500 Burmese headwords come with example sentences and English translations.
HEAR IT SPOKEN
Listen in US, UK or Australian English, with adjustable pitch and speed. Download the Burmese voice once and hear every Burmese word read aloud on your device.
LOOK UP FROM ANYWHERE
• Camera lookup: point your camera at a page to look up a word, or scan a sentence to see what a word means in context.
• Search by speaking Burmese: tap the microphone in the search bar and say a word
• Look Up from any app: select a word in Safari, Mail or Notes and choose iAbidan from the share sheet.
LEARN SMARTER WITH APPLE INTELLIGENCE
On iPhone and iPad with Apple Intelligence, iAbidan adds three on-device tools. Meaning in Context picks the dictionary meaning that fits your sentence. Fix My Text corrects your English and explains each change. Word quizzes test you on the words you read. Nothing leaves your device.
YOUR WORDS, ON EVERY DEVICE
Recents and favourites keep the words you are learning close, with filters by date and language. Back them up, with your settings, to your own iCloud Drive or Google Drive and restore them on any device. Favourites from the previous version of iAbidan are brought across automatically.
MADE FOR READING
Light, dark or automatic theme, your choice of text size, and the whole app in Burmese or English. Designed for iPhone and iPad, with a layout built for the larger screen.
ALWAYS UP TO DATE, ALWAYS OFFLINE
The whole dictionary lives on your device, so it works without an internet connection. New words and corrections arrive between app updates: check for the latest dictionary data in Settings and install it in a tap.
FREE TO USE
Every entry and every feature is free. iAbidan Premium, a yearly subscription, simply removes the ads.

Hi, is there any reason we cannot copy vocabulary down to paste later? That feature used to be very useful for me when I was messaging friends and trying to find vocabulary for some work. Now I have to manually type things that I research or take a screenshot and crop it, which takes so long.Edit for clarity: I am using it on my iPhone. I used to be able to tap a word, and the word would be copied to my clipboard. Then, I could paste it in an email I was drafting on my phone. I appreciate your answer, but there is no clipboard access option in my settings for the iPhone. There is also no place inside the app for me to revert the settings back or allow access. I would really like to gain back that feature of tapping on a word and copying it.
Developer Response
Dear Ko Ye Tun,Thank you for your feedback. The copy & paste function is working as before, but you may need to grant permission for the app to access your clipboard when you perform pasting. We are aware that the copy/paste menu is currently located a bit far down from the search box, and we will look into this issue to improve it in a future version of the app. If you have any feedback, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at iabidandictionary@gmail.com
Having difficulties with app response
Young-K2097
I'm facing a problem during these days. That is the response from this app is too slow. Whenever I type a word, it takes longer to pop up than it was. I didn't have that type of problem back in the day. Does it come along with a new update or sth like that? Now, the response is too slow and I cannot scroll down easily whenever I use this app. I have no problem is any other app apart from this one. I thought that that was because of my phone storage or sth like that. It's not about that at all cuz I don't have this type of problem with other dictionaries or app. But, I'm a big fan of this dictionary. So, it is making me feel bad. Could you fix that error if that was an error or sth like that?
Crashed After The Update
JEYYCLERK
Sorry that I've never gotten the chance to give the stars when the app works well and usefull but I'm facing a problem with the app now. It keeps quitting by itself after the update. Can you check the issues and fix it please? Thanks for all the good efforts so far

Excellent, but need to improve !!!

This app is very helpful and a lot convenient to use. Thank you so much for your hard work. I don’t see any Myanmar dictionary is better than you. But there is some problems in input/search which is only good in English and plenty of explanations. Whenever I type in Burmese, I don’t see good explanation rather than baldy explain. The worst case is not able to use Myanmar Unicode. Rather than that this app is excellent. Hopefully, this app will improve gradually. And thank again for no ad at all.
