The classic board game Nim. Players take turns removing stones from piles and try not to be the last one to remove a stone. Features a configurable board, one and two player modes, as well as a leveled AI.

I’m going to teach NIM to a group of students of mine (2nd graders) and have them analyze the game on their own terms. This app will be perfect for it. For the most challenging setting I recommend “Randomize Board” ON, and“Who Goes First” RANDOMIf “Computer Difficulty” is set to HARD, the computer will play the optimal game to win, so one mistake on your end and you are toast. I haven’t checked how well the computer plays in MEDIUM. A couple small suggestions:1) increase number of heaps and/or add setting to select number of heaps2) add setting that lets one select who wins when picking the last piece (this shouldn’t affect the programming too much as it only affects the “end game”)

I love playing this app! It helps me practice my game. I wish it had a “concede” button for when you know you’re beat, but other than that it’s wonderful.

Thanks for the review and suggestion :) We think the "Quit" button works pretty well for bailing out of games but we could see the convenience of having a concede button as well. It would potentially eliminate a second button tap to get back in the game. However we think the interface is pretty crowded already so we probably won't add it. We'll keep it in mind if we rework the interface in the future though.

I like the game. I wrote an earlier review asking for stats to be added. They were. I also said I would also like if the stones could be either horizontal or vertical. And now they are. My only current suggestion, and it is a small one, is that I wish the stones were lined up on the left side and not on the right. I think it’s just because I read left to right.Thanks for the improvements!

Thanks for the awesome feedback :D We've added both statistics and a horizontal vs vertical board layout option in settings. We also added support for landscape mode, where you can hold the phone horizontally. Let us know if there are any particular statistics you would like.Version 2.2.3 flips the direction of the horizontally laid out stones, I agree it looks better that way :)
