Speeches is an App for preparing and delivering speeches and pitches. Prepare speaker's notes and deliver a great speech — perfectly timed — no matter what the occasion.
Be it a wedding speech, sermon, business presentation, or evening at the debating club, navigating your notes is that much easier with Speeches as your portable teleprompter.
Prepare your notes directly in Speeches on your iPhone or iPad, or import a text file from Mail or another App (e.g. Dropbox, Files). You can also email your speech to solicit feedback from friends and colleagues, and your speeches sync between devices with iCloud.
Speeches helps with your preparation. Organize notes, set a speech duration, and practice to make sure you can finish on time. Having difficulty with a particular section? Jump to any note and continue from there.
Once your speech is prepared, it's time to deliver. Speeches presents your notes as easy to navigate cue cards. No more juggling of paper notes, or fiddly scrolling in an App not designed for the pressure of public speaking. Just swipe back and forth. Simple gestures keep you focussed on speaking, and not on negotiating your notes.
Speeches goes well beyond paper notes when it comes to keeping track of your time. The onscreen timing meter shows at a glance exactly how far along you are. A second bar shows your progress through the notes. By comparing the two, you can see if you are going too fast or too slow.
In short, Speeches is the App you need to write, practice and deliver your next speech with precision and confidence.

Costs a lot, barely works
If you want to spend $5 to get really frustrated by an app during the already stressful process of delivering a speech, look no further. This app will make you shout at your phone. What could be more fun?
Biggest gripe is not being able to swipe up to down to move from card to card. Awkward to swipe to right with one’s left thumb. Overpriced app.
Good effort - but not good enough
It looks really great but isn't any better than any normal cue cards app.
Yes, you can set the time and it will tell you where you should be in your speech based on your set time. But the problem is that it doesn't allow you to time your speech in the app. This means that if you say your speech is 4 minutes and you have 8 notes (cue cards) it will just divide that 4 minutes into 8 pieces of 30 seconds each. The problem with this is that your first one may be a minute and your last 10 seconds. It should let you time the speech as you say it in the app and time how much time it takes for you to say your whole speech as well as each note.
It should also be universal because many cannot read the text on an iPhone and will want the bigger screen of the iPad. Using the iPhone app on the iPad isn't useful because you want to use it in landscape, not portrait and it doesn't give you this option.
Unless they fix these issues and actually make this app as good as it can and should be it should never be worth $8. A this stage it's not even worth $1. Very disappointed. It has a lot of potential and can be an awesome app.
Developer Response ,
We have just released version 2.0 of Speeches, and we think it should address a number of your concerns, namely that it now syncs across devices, and can be used in landscape mode.
Thanks for the feedback regarding the timer. It was a deliberate choice to divide the time line equally for each cue card. For most speeches, this should work out fairly well on average. You may have some cards that need a short time, and others which should be longer, but on average the card progress should come together, even if there are times when they are not exactly right. It is still a good indication of where you are at.
The alternative is to allow exact times to be set on every card. This can be very time consuming to setup, and has problems if you decide to change the length of your speech. We felt most people wouldn't bother to do that, and wanted to provide something that perhaps isn't perfect, but is a very handy guide for most use cases.
In any case, the feedback is most welcome, and we will take it on board when planning future releases.
