This app can help you get to know the ADLaM alphabet. Scroll through the letters and study their shapes and sounds. Practice tracing each one until you're familiar-- then quiz yourself on the letters!
Note it is written right-to-left. That is why the first letter is listed on the top right and they go right to left, up to down.
The name Adlam is an acronym derived from the first four letters of the alphabet (A, D, L, M), standing for Alkule Dandayɗe Leñol Mulugol, which means "the alphabet that protects the peoples from vanishing".
It is one of many indigenous scripts developed for specific languages in West Africa. It was invented in the 1980s by brothers Ibrahima and Abdoulaye Barry.
