Sherwood offers a wholesome reading and audiobook platform built for families who want real books, professional narration, strong parental controls, and a safer place for kids to read and listen. An app where reading is the entertainment, and the stories are worth getting lost in.
One subscription gives the whole family unlimited access to Sherwood’s growing library of audiobooks, ebooks, and read-alongs. There are no library waitlists, checkout limits, or book-by-book purchases. Kids can read and listen as much as they want across their own parent-managed profiles.
Sherwood works with real books from real authors and publishers, including audiobooks performed by professional narrators. Every audiobook includes on-screen captions so children can see the words as they listen. When an audiobook and ebook are paired together, Sherwood creates a read-along experience where the ebook text highlights in sync with the narration.
Parents can create child profiles, choose what each child can access, build playlists, download books for offline use, and review reading and listening activity by profile.

I appreciate a book app that doesn’t have questionable content. I like that my non-reader is able to easily navigate. My kids have found books that they are enjoying. (Ages 4-15) I look forward as they add content- but there is a good amount. It’s reasonably priced. I really love that’s it’s low stimulation. I hope in the future they’ll be able to add read alongs for chapter books. (Words highlighted as they read.) Only con-The speaker is just a Bluetooth speaker, it doesn’t have any books on it. I don’t like apps like hoopla because the covers that pop up are so awful-and there is no way to turn those off.
Christian Nationalist Agenda

I felt that the selection made this app seem like it didn’t have an agenda or didn’t have a strong agenda. I was expecting offerings like what yoto has; some religious, some secular. This was not the case. A lot of the selection will be familiar to people who have been in a classical education setting. The selection has very little to offer girls or people of color in terms of missionaries, historical figures, or scientists being represented. What it offers boys seemed highly indoctrinating into the type of aggressive Christian masculinity that has become associated with Christian nationalism. There was a text painting the Crusades as a good thing, books glorifying Columbus and John Smith as missionaries, and countless books encouraging boys to glorify war. This app is tricking people into purchasing it by presenting itself as more secular than it is. It’s not only NOT secular, the selection and curation is pushing the Christian Nationalist agenda.
A-mazing!!!!!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🌟

This app is amazing! You should totally get it. It’s so good for your kids, like for kids who are starting to read or don’t like to read this is the app for that you can buy a book and they don’t have to read it. They just have to follow along and listen to the book. This is definitely what your kidneys it has listened to books. One of my favorites is green amber but yeah, it says listen to books watch books and movies that are based on a true story and you can actually read the books so this is definitely what your child needs.
THE BEST APP
The One & Only Head Librarian
Hi, I just wanted to say that this is a really great app for kids all of the stories have kid friendly topics and they even have shows for kids six and under. They even have sleep timers so that your kid can listen to their favorite book as they sleep, and they won’t loose time finding where they were because the book has finished if you do turn on the timer. I just wanted to say this so other kids like me could have this wonderful app too.
Downloaded books now support Word and Line captions, with clearer controls and improved highlighting. This update also improves audiobook resume between your phone and CarPlay, chapter and playlist playback, and Read Along reliability. Reconnect once to refresh captions for older downloads.
