Loving the motivation

As someone living in an ADHD household it can be difficult to stay on task and keep life adventurous. I feel like I’m either in play mode with my family while my tasks pile up around me, or I’m hyper focused on catching up and all fun is turned off and I forget to take care of my mental and physical needs. This adventurous app helps to bring balance between my two worlds and bring them together to work in harmony. It helps to bring the fun back into my daily grind, to the point where I look forward to my tasks and each one becomes a piece of the game. I also appreciate how self care is integrated into the app as part of the narrative. If you’re anything like me I would recommend making Modern Sam a part of your day.

A Guided Meditation with compassion

As someone with ADHD, I’ve tried meditating and breathing exercises before, but my mind wanders and I feel like a failure and give up. Here, however, the guided meditation specifically calls out this tendency to wander and empathizes with us: it tells us it’s normal and reminds us to just gently bring our thoughts back to the present… Wait? I didn’t completely fail and have to start over because I started thinking about the noise I heard outside which devolved into me thinking about writing a new fantasy language? Score! I gave this app 4 out of 5 stars because I had trouble tracking down the new player guide and then swapping from the guide, back to the app to try the feature I just read about, then back to the guide for the next step. I definitely think that interactively tutorializing the user would benefit the experience. I also downloaded this last night so I have not used it much yet, but I can’t wait to see how this app develops! What new features might the future hold?

As my world gets busier it’s easy to be overwhelmed. But I can break down even the “simplest” task into 100 sub tasks if I need to and that makes it so much more manageable. I love the story, the meditations are wonderful and I enjoy the gaming aspect as well. It really is exactly what I needed to stay focused and on task. I don’t know how to thank Sam but he really has made life that much easier.Coming back weeks later to say I’m still using and enjoying the app. It helps me keep track of specifics, while allowing me to view things as a broader perspective too. I’m always finding new ways to incorporate it and it has helped me start clearing clutter from my home as well as keep it cleaner in general.
