Retro burger-building arcade! Drop ingredients to smash enemies, stack burgers, and stun foes with pepper. Clear every maze stage and score big! You control the Chef with a four directions joystick and a pepper button. The goal of this game is to build burgers while avoiding enemy foods: eggplants, tomatoes, and avocados. Burger ingredients (bun, cheese, meat, tomato, lettuce) are arranged in each level which is a maze of floors and ladders. When the Chef walks over a full length of an ingredient, it falls to a level below, knocking down any ingredient or enemy that is there. A burger is completed when all of its vertically ingredients have been dropped onto a bottom plate. The Chef must complete all burgers to complete a level. Three types of enemies are in the maze: eggplant, tomato, and avocado. The chef can get extra scores by either crushing them under a falling ingredient or dropping an ingredient while they are on it. Crushed or dropped enemies return to the maze after a short time. At the start of the game, the player is given 5 pepper shots to use against enemies. Pressing pepper button causes the Chef to shake a cloud of pepper in the direction he is facing; any enemy touching the pepper cloud is briefly stunned, and the Chef can safely move through them. Ice cream, coffee, and French fries appear when dropped every 10 ingredients, awarding bonus scores and one extra pepper shot when collected. One life is lost whenever the Chef touches a non-stunned enemy, and the game ends once all lives are lost. Chef gain one extra life every 20,000 scores. Hope you enjoy it!

I like it, but…

Just like the classic (BT), but it is glitchy - the controls are amazingly frustrating. They ‘catch’ all the time at just the wrong time. There is no continuation or save and the game will freeze unexpectedly and, welp, gotta start over. It also starts over after a long period of inactivity (no leaving it to play in the morning. It would be a fave of mine if not for these glitches.

Back in the day of the arcade, many of the controller options were limited to 4-way controllers, so you only had up, down, right, left… This made those old games extremely frustrating quarter munchers. Within 5 years most arcade games moved on to 8-way controllers and games like these were nostalgic, until you played them and remembered how bad the controllers were. Keep in mind this is also the piece that made the OG Donkey Long frustrating. Anyway, here we are with a knock-off (a very faithful one at that) of Burger Time and unfortunately the developer could have improved the controllers, but he stuck with the original 4 direction locked control scheme and 39 years later, that’s just not going to work out for this game. If the developer fixes the controllers I would give this 5 stars, because I want my nostalgia to be just how I like it, all of the good memories of these games and none of the bad!Oh and add physical controller support! I would love to be able to use my Xbox for that.

Love everything about the game, except the controls. Get the joystick spot on, and this game would be a ten.
