updates and fixes
Dayo turns screen time into focus. Two ways to use it.
TOTEM LOCK : Pick a physical object: a book, your watch, your dog. Snap it with the Dayo camera. That thing becomes the key to your phone. When your apps are scheduled to lock, you have to find that object, at the right place, to unlock them. Built for solo focus. No parent, no cash deals. Just you and a real-world reset button.
GET PAID TO UNPLUG : Set a daily screen-time limit. Your parent funds the deal. Stay under the limit → earn money. Go over → lose 10¢ per minute. When the deal ends, your parent's card runs for only what you earned. Cash out as gift cards (Amazon, Target, Starbucks, 100+ brands) or PayPal.
You can run a deal AND a Totem on the same apps. Belt and suspenders.
Why parents love it:
• You pay only for the time your teen earned
• Receipt emailed every day with their progress
• You approve every deal before any card is saved
• Words of encouragement built-in, send with one tap
Why teens (and solo users) love it:
• Money is yours, not your parent's
• Cash out same-day to dozens of brands
• Bonus deeds: extra chores your parent funds on top
• Totem mode is just for you, no parent, no oversight
• No surveillance, Dayo can't see your messages, your camera, or anything else outside the apps you track
Dayo never sells your data, never serves ads, and never has access to anything outside the apps you choose to track.

This has been a big game changer for me, my social media and phone use. I found myself in a rut and needed something to jar myself out of it. I only wish you could use your total money earned against products instead of just a discount. For what ever reason using another app to share something in messenger (i.e. NYT Wordle scores) would leave the app open in the background and run out my time so I uninstalled it. The new update isn’t counting down my time. It just always shows 30 mins. I always used the countdown to manage my time and now I can’t see how much I’ve used.
Amazing App

This is such a great concept, with actual rewards for your hard work. It’s basically rewarding you with incentives that are totally worth it, high quality top of the line products that can add value to your life. They have a variety of categories, my favorite reward category is Homegoods. My current incentive right now is this beautiful high quality comforter from Sunday Citizen. Something I actually need and want, something that will last. So you can choose which social media platforms you want to monitor, and when you use less than 30 min of usage per day you can earn up to $5 a day in bank that can be used to purchase any of their incredible reward products. It’s so worth it. This app gives you the feeling of accomplishment by giving you rewards you with real products that you actually want for putting in the effort to minimize screen time. I think it’s so awesome and all of these products are amazing and quality and worth working towards. It’s incentive that actually works. Because once you’ve acquired enough to purchase your goal, there’s another amazing product to choose as your goal and work to obtain. I love it, wish there was more incentive based apps like this with a positive message and a feeling of satisfaction. I try to get all my friends and family to download it! Thank you Dayo!!
Finally! An App that works!

I’ve been using Dayo for a few months now, and I’m finally seeing a real shift in my screen time after trying so many other approaches that didn’t stick. The concept is smart and genuinely motivating—you earn credits by meeting your screen time goals, which you can then use as discounts on a wide variety of products in their marketplace. To clear up some confusion I’ve seen in other reviews: the money you earn isn’t something you cash out—it goes toward purchases within the app. But with their growing list of brands and products, I’ve had no trouble finding things I actually want, which makes it feel truly rewarding and relevant. It’s helped me save money and finally break some of my social media habits. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a practical, positive way to spend less time online.

Update: I’ve had this app since it launched and I’m just popping in to say I’ve upped it to 5 stars. All the original little things I didn’t like got changed in the new versions and I so so happy with Dayo. It’s been helpful for me and my teenager as well with the dayo deals. So nice to not have to talk about screen time every day with her. It’s taken a lot of the nagging and I know how long she’s been on by how much she gets at the end of the deal and it is actually working. She is on her phone less. What a gift. Original Review: I have been looking for an app like this. Like so many of us I am on the socials more than I want to be. It always starts fine, let’s check your feed, I need to post something for work, I need to post something for myself, and literally the addiction and habit of scrolling has been sucking me in like a black hole. What I like about Dayo:- it’s so pretty and calming the colors and design is minimal and soothing so right away I’m able to calm the mind and that always supports healthier habits for me. - the interface is super simple and straightforward - I can see progress over time in the statistics - YOU GET REWARDS, REAL ONES! For not being on the socials - I especially like the messaging in the notifications. So it will let you know when you used your points for the day and you are dipping into what would be “prize money” these messages are soft and kind and encouraging - it refreshes everyday so if one day is a busy it’s really okay. - I have been experiencing real shifts in my social use and that’s worth it all by its self. Overall it’s absolutely a fantastic app. Would recommend. It’s a win win completely.
