Minimoon is the only music player I have been able to find on iOS that combines ease of use, functionality, and superb aesthetics. I have only had issues with one aspect; synced lyrics. As far as I’ve seen after experimenting, the player does not support embedded lyrics. It instead displays them as they’d appear in an .lrc file, i.e., [timestamp] (lyrics), as well as not syncing with the song. If this feature could be added it would boost this to a five star perfect app for me. Also, if I’m doing something wrong and the player does support embedded lyrics I would appreciate if the dev could tell me what I’m doing wrong. Otherwise, love the app and I would recommend its one-time purchase for the full version! Btw I love the icon, it’s very charming.

Thanks for the kind review. You’re right that currently synced lyrics only work in external lrc files but the next update will add support for synced lyrics in tags too.

For content you have, this has to be *the best* music player for iOS. Now that doesn’t mean it’s perfectly rid of quirks but it’s quite polished and free to use for basic core functions (I used it for a day and liked it so much ended up buying the full version). The most convincing reason to me though is that you don’t have to worry about an arbitrary service agreement that might have “your music” being gone one day. Additionally, the developer is quite responsive and get this, actually cares about what they’re working on. What a crazy concept in 2025.If you’re still reading this, just download MiniMoon already and don’t be afraid to dig in to take the time to sort out your music files. You won’t regret it!

This app is a pretty amazing achievement because this is the first time I’ve ever used a third party music app on iOS that’s actually good. I do have a few ideas for improvements though, in my opinion. - Change the shuffle behavior so that all tracks are shuffled when I play from a list of all my songs, not just the songs alphabetically ahead- I have a /lot/ of songs on my phone, so something to be able to quickly scrub through them would be really nice because currently it takes ages to get through them- Tapping the bottom bar should just take me to the now playing screen and not the album screen at all- The icon needs to be updated lolOther than that there’s not really that much I can think of that I’d change. This app is amazing and I’d recommend it to anyone who prefers using local music.

I’ve been using the app for a few months and it has allowed me to give up 99% of music streaming and allowing me to listen to my local music library again. Love how it organizes your screen by recently played and favorited etc. I just wish it had more integration with carplay. It still plays via “now playing” but I would love the ability to choose my own collections through the car screen rather than having to physically grab my phone to change music. Add that and it will be a perfect app for me.
• MiniMoon now works with CarPlay. Browse your Home sections, collections, and favorites on your car's screen, and use shuffle, repeat, and Up Next while you drive.
• Ask Siri to play an album, artist, song, or collection from your library, or to resume your music. Turn on Siri for MiniMoon in Settings.
• Pin any collection to Home. It shows up as a row of albums or a short track list, and you can reorder it like the other sections.
• Save your play queue as a new collection, or add it to an existing one, right from the queue in the full-screen player.
• Swipe a track to play it next or last, add it to your favorites, or add it to a collection.
• Touch and hold the MiniMoon icon on your Home Screen to search, resume playback, play a random album, or open Recently Added.
• Collections look cleaner, with compact rows and album art. All of a collection's actions are in one menu, and the Edit button lets you reorder and remove tracks.
• When you sort albums by artist, you can now pick what comes next: album, year, or date added. That way each artist's albums can appear in release order.
• MiniMoon now uses the sort tags in your music files, so "The Beatles" can sort under B. The full version lets you edit them too. To read them from music you already have, run Full Scan in Settings.
• Albums with several composers have a Show Composers option that hides the composer line under each track.
• Help in the More tab opens the online user manual.
• MiniMoon now opens on the first section in your tab bar, not always on Home.
• On iPhone, Play and Shuffle now sit right below the album title. Details like track count, length, and format have moved below the track list.
• In Discover, the Play button now stretches across the album card, so it's easy to reach with either thumb.
