Gwistix is for adults who already know more than a beginner app assumes. Tired of chasing treasure chests instead of learning a language? Here you find the few words you can't recall, mark them, and drill only those.
FIVE COURSES German, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese, each with about 3,000 words in nine or ten levels of short word lists, from first greetings upwards. Spanish uses Castilian and Portuguese uses Brazilian as the default.
SKIP WHAT YOU KNOW Know a list already? Skip it, and a short quiz checks that you do. Mark any single word "I know this" and it leaves your way.
COVER THE TRANSLATION The vocab book with a finger over the answer, as an app. Cover the translations, tap to reveal, test yourself, and see at a glance which words are new, learning or known.
YOUR OWN LISTS Get a word wrong and one tap adds it to a list of your own. Then drill just those words. Add notes to words, and choose which kinds of questions you want.
QUESTIONS THAT COME BACK Spaced review brings questions back over time: after a day, then a few days, then weeks, and a miss comes back tomorrow. You always see the next ten, never a mountain.
VARIED QUESTIONS Translate both ways, match, order the words, type the answer, and listen. Hear every word and example read aloud. Articles and plurals are shown where they matter, and grammar lessons and a glossary are there when you want an explanation.
NO PRESSURE No streaks to protect. No hearts or energy to run out. No timers. You can do as much or as little as you like. Earn coins as you learn and use them to unlock new activities or skip ahead.
A PICTURE TO UNCOVER Finish a list and a little more of its hidden picture appears, building a collection as you go.
LIGHT AND DARK Follows your phone's appearance, with support for larger text.
