Universe Of Objects
Expand your data connections
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad
Build linked databases, planners, boards and more. Use powerful queries and shortcut-style automations, with tutorials to help you get the most from your data.
Your life is made of connected things — notes that reference tasks, events linked to people, tables tied to projects. Universe of Objects is the personal database that reflects how you actually think.
Everything is an Object. Every Object is Linkable.
Create notes, tasks, checklists, tables, calendars, timelines, boards, diagrams, drawings, maps, images, key/value pairs, scores, records, and more — then link any of them to anything else. Build a living web of your own information, shaped exactly the way you need it.
With a built-in automation and query language, you can automate steps and build your own workflows.
Your Universe, Your Structure
• Organise objects into universes — separate spaces for work, personal projects, research, or anything else
• Link objects freely across types: attach a checklist to an event, connect a note to a table row, or reference a location from a task
• Query your data to surface exactly what you need
• Search across everything instantly, either using plain text or the query language, e.g. SELECT objecttype WHERE field = 'value'
A Tool for Every Kind of Thinking
• Tables & Records — structured data with a full spreadsheet view
• Lists & Checklists — for ordering and organising objects
• Key/Value Pairs — for lookups
• Boards — visual columns for planning and tracking
• Timelines & Timelogs — track what happened and when
• Hierarchies — map relationships between objects: Parent/Child, Peer, Dependencies, and more
• Diagrams, Drawings & Images — for visual references
• Notes, Markdown & Text — write freely in the format that suits you
• Calendars, Events & Tasks — keep time-based data in context
• Maps & Locations — anchor objects to the real world
• Custom Objects — define your own types when nothing else fits
• Scores — create musical score objects to record bass and treble clef notation
• Layouts — pull together different objects on a visual canvas for exports or simply for working through ideas
• Grids — the latest addition lets you lay out your objects in a grid, add text headers, display image objects, and edit object fields directly from the grid
And if you need something different, Custom Objects let you build your own object types.
Automation & Shortcuts Integration
Build your own automation steps to update objects, create workflows, and customise buttons or On Drop actions.
Want an automation to run at a specific time each day? Use Apple Shortcuts to run an automation, back up your universe files, or simply clean up your daily task list.
You're in Control of Your Data
• Sync via iCloud or your own storage
• Offline mode keeps you working without a connection — changes are pushed to the cloud when you're back online
• Export and share your data your way
• Build your own Apple Shortcuts to export universe data
Universe of Objects isn't a note-taking app, a task manager, or a spreadsheet. It's all of them — connected.
The free version is limited to 3 universes with up to 50 objects per universe. For a small one-time purchase, you can upgrade to the full version, with an unlimited number of universes and as many objects as you need.
So give it a try and build a universe of your own, or find a template to help you get started.

2.2.8 Sep 5
Two big new features this release, "Ask AI" and custom overriding of ‘Add Item’ on board stacks.
• Added a "Ask AI" step to automation.
- with support for OnDevice, OpenAI, and Anthropic. For OpenAI and Anthropic, users can bring their own API keys and add them in settings.
- Choice of model can be defined in step, or as a runtime prompt.
- The “Ask AI” has expected output validation, either Text or JSON
Note: OnDevice does require iOS 26 (or later) and iPhones that must support Apple Intelligence.(iPhone 15 pro, iPhone 16 or later)
• Added a new execution type option on boards, allowing automation to replace the "Add Item" button on board stacks.
This allows users to customise the ‘Add Item’ actions and change the label on stacks, so if your workflow requires you to add a specific object you can do that, or perform a specific action on a stack you can. For example you might have simple Kanban board, for To-Do stack you could replace ‘Add Item’ with ‘Create New Ticket’ and for the ‘Done’ stack, rather than adding item, you could have ‘Release Items’ which moves all items to a released stack.
And a small fix for :-
• Added a save prompt on exiting the Image Object.

2.2.1 Aug 26
Summary of New items in version 2.2
Extends automation capabilities, particularly for Board-based workflows. Objects moving between stacks can now trigger automations, provide the dropped object and destination stack as inputs, query other objects dynamically, manipulate fields, construct text from previous results, count arrays, and conditionally stop processing.
Version 2.2 expands the automation system with new triggers, steps, dynamic values, and improved control over automation workflows.
On Stack Drop Automations
- Added a new On Stack Drop automation execution type.
- Automations can now run automatically when an object is dragged and dropped into a different Board stack.
- Added On Stack Drop Get Object to retrieve the object that triggered the automation.
- Added On Stack Drop Get Stack Name to retrieve the name of the stack the object was dropped into.
- These steps make it possible to build Board workflows that respond automatically when objects move between stages.
New Automation Steps
- Added Count (Array) to return the number of elements contained in an array.
- Added Text, allowing normal text to be combined with magic variable output from previous automation steps.
- Added Stop If Value, providing conditional control over whether an automation should continue running.
Query for Objects
- Query for Objects now supports [Step Number] syntax.
- Output from previous automation steps can now be inserted dynamically into object queries, enabling more flexible chained automations.
Adjust Field Value
- Added a Set operation to Adjust Field Value for custom objects.
- This allows an automation to directly replace a field's value rather than only adjusting its existing value.
Form Update Object
- Added an option to create a field when it does not already exist when using Form Update Object. (This option applies to custom fields only)
Bug Fixes
- Fixed bug with Append Automation so the available automation list is restricted using the latest object UUIDs, This prevents outdated or superseded automation objects from appearing in the selection list.
- Fixed Automation Step card heights for a more consistent layout and improved readability.
- Added a Restore Purchases button to the main screen, making it easier to restore previously purchased access.
