Myths and Stories of Ancient Sicily This application offers a slow-paced journey through ancient Sicily, centered on literary itineraries. The island’s ancient past is visible to all through the monumental remains of cities such as Agrigento, Syracuse, Taormina, Selinunte, and Segesta. The purpose of this app is to make the more elusive traces of the past accessible: the countless stories, myths, and tales handed down to us by ancient authors. From Plato to Gorgias, from Daedalus to Charybdis: men and characters who have shaped Europe’s identity and thought over the centuries. The app consists of three geographical routes, allowing users to explore different areas of the island while following first-person narratives from monsters, tyrants, heroes, and gods. It also features a podcast with contributions from Italian and international scholars and researchers. Finally, it includes a digital version of the “Stomachion,” the puzzle invented by Archimedes, which still challenges mathematical minds in the new millennium.
