Track your real typing speed across every Mac app. See WPM, CPM & accuracy update live in your menu bar while you work. No tests needed — just type.
Track your real typing speed across every Mac app. Pulse measures WPM, CPM, and accuracy live from every key you press — no tests, no setup.
Highlights
• Keyboard heatmap — a real Mac keyboard in your own layout: the keys you use most, the ones you miss, and a button to practise them
• Fingers — the load on each finger, how far it travels, and the key pairs that slow you down
• Practice — focused drills for your weakest keys and slowest key pairs
• Keyboard Intelligence — detects every keyboard you connect and compares your typing across them
• Widgets, Shortcuts & Spotlight — today's WPM, keystrokes and streak on your desktop or one search away
• Year in Review & Best Hour — your year in numbers, and the time of day you type fastest
• AI Rate — Pulse filters AI / autocomplete keystrokes so what you see is what YOU typed
• Records & History — best WPM, best accuracy, longest session, per app and overall
• Global Leaderboard — optional, off by default: compare your weekly sustained speed with other Pulse users. Offensive names are blocked, and you can report or hide any player
Key features
• Real-time metrics in the menu bar: WPM, CPM, accuracy at a glance
• Live Metrics from any app: press ⌥⇧P to open or close the floating window
• App-specific analytics: see how you type in your code editor vs your chat app
• Detailed graphs and stats over any time range
• Customizable menu bar: pick what to show
• Dark mode support
• Lightweight — minimal impact on system resources
Privacy first
• Your typing stays on your Mac: what you type is never stored or sent — only counts and timing. The optional Global Leaderboard (off by default) shares a daily anonymous summary — speed, accuracy, minutes, keystrokes, language, app mix, streak and time zone — plus your handle if you set one, shown publicly on the board.
• Pulse lives in the menu bar. No Dock icon.
Pulse Pro (yearly subscription or one-time lifetime) unlocks Keyboard Intelligence, Heatmap, weak-key Practice, Slow Pairs, Pro widgets, records and full history. Typing tests in Practice are free.
