every song, show, place, and person has a page here. read what people really think. write the take only you could write. no ads. no algorithm. no follower counts.
every word, every place, every thing has a page on udictio. yours is on it.
the take you left in a comment section? gone. your best opinions on an album, a show, a city, a person vanish into dying threads. they never accumulate. they never count.
udictio changes that. any song, movie, person, place, news event, concept, or feeling gets its own permanent page. you write your entry, a single line or a full essay, no character limit, links and images welcome. that take lives on the page for that thing. forever. findable. yours.
this is not a feed. this is a social and interactive dictionary where every thing on earth has a page, and many people write what it actually means.
this is not a feed
on udictio, your perspective attaches to the thing itself, not to a timeline that buries it in hours. open the page for severance season 2. for tokyo. for anti-hero. for loneliness. for your hometown. every page holds many people's actual takes, permanently stacked. not buried by an algorithm. not ranked by follower count.
one page. many definitions. the thing gets richer every time someone adds a take. entries stack oldest to newest by default, the way a reference should. filter by newest, most popular, with images, and more.
• channels
music. tv shows and movies. relationships. sports. news. politics. art. travel. tech and science.
whatever you have an opinion on, there is a channel for it and a page waiting.
• wishes
see a topic with no page yet? wish for it. get notified the moment someone writes the first entry. or be that person. define it first, then watch the community add their takes.
• upvote. downvote. favorite.
upvote the takes worth finding. downvote the ones that miss. favorite the takes worth keeping. vote counts are never shown publicly. what rises to the top does so on merit, not on a visible score anyone can pile onto. your favorited entries collect on your profile.
• your privacy is the product
no real-name requirement. no phone number. no profile photo mandatory. pseudonymous and anonymous by default. no ads, no ad targeting, no data sold. no algorithm deciding what you read. today, trending, and top are transparent rankings you can understand, not a black-box engagement machine. no public follower count to perform for.
your standing here is built on what you have written. nothing else.
• build your streak. earn your karma.
post daily. keep a streak alive. earn entry-count badges at 10, 100, and 1,000 posts. accumulate karma that reflects substance, not popularity.
• follow topics and writers
follow any topic, a song, a show, a concept, a place, and get an unread badge when new entries arrive. follow users you respect and get push notifications when they post.
• drafts. pinned and highlighted entries. direct messages.
save a draft when the thought is not ready. pin your favorite entry to the top of your profile. add favorites to your highlights list. message anyone directly, on your own terms.
stop scrolling through other people's takes.
start being the take.
download udictio. write the entry that only you could write. the page for that thing has been waiting.
Been waiting for something like this. It's a dictionary but the definitions are people's real takes. Genuinely different.
Developer Response
thank you, this means a lot. real takes from real people instead of a feed, that's the whole point. tell your friends!
Great
CeeeeeEmmmmm
The features and entries are fun.
Developer Response
appreciate it. more fun stuff on the way.
hey, real person writing this update, not a copy paste template.
the big one this time: your topics now live in your iphone's search.
here's the deal. every topic you open in udictio quietly gets added to your phone's spotlight search (the search bar you get when you swipe down on your home screen). so later, when you sort of remember something you read but not where it was, you don't have to dig back through the app. swipe down, type the topic, there it is. tap it and you land right back inside it.
it only keeps topics you've actually visited, it forgets them after 30 days so your search doesn't turn into a junk drawer, and it wipes everything the second you log out. your history stays yours.
also in here: read aloud now picks the best voice for whatever language it's reading, so it sounds a little less like a haunted gps. plus the usual upgrades under the hood you'll never see. i'll try to contain my excitement.
that's it. go search for something you forgot you read.
thanks for being here, more soon.
