Ideas, tools and resources to advance gender diversity, equity and inclusion. Discover best practices, strategies to overcome challenges, and training materials. The Gender DEI Toolkits app offers users the opportunity to explore innovative ideas, practical tools, and valuable resources to advance gender diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). While the toolkits primarily focus on DEI in the workplace, they also provide insights and resources to challenge societal and cultural norms. The app is equally useful for senior executives, managers, HR professionals, employees, students, and the general public. The app is based on the Gender DEI Toolkit Series, developed over a period of more than three years by three teams working sequentially under the Director of the Management Advancement Research Centre (MARC) at FAST National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (FAST NUCES), Islamabad, Pakistan. All three toolkits focus on increasing the participation of women in the workforce. While the primary target of the series is organizations and individuals in Pakistan, the resources and ideas are equally applicable to organizations and individuals in other countries. TIPS FOR USE: VOLUME I, II AND III The app presents three toolkits. While they were developed sequentially, each toolkit is independent, allowing users to start exploring from any volume. Volume I: Best Practices to Enhance Gender Equality in Pakistan Volume I presents examples of gender DEI best practices, and can give the users practical ideas and food for thought. It presents 47 tools further divided into 80 plus sub-categories. The tools are organized under the 13 categories of the Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Benchmarks (GDEIB) 2021 standards that are published by the Centre for Global Inclusion, USA, with the support and input of 112 expert panelists from around the world. Thus, the toolkit provides practical ideas that are aligned with global standards, to aid organizations in fortifying and enhancing gender diversity in the workplace. The tools and best practices were identified by the MARC team based on detailed practices shared by 19 participating organizations during the first year of the project. These examples offer a glimpse into successful practices for peer-to-peer learning. Volume II: A Guide to Resolve Implementation Challenges Volume II builds on the foundation of Volume I and presents 30 challenges faced by individuals and organizations in implementing DEI practices in Pakistan, along with strategies to overcome each challenge. These challenges and solutions are organized into four groups—Foundation, Internal, Bridging, and External—as outlined in the GDEIB 2021 standards, published by the Centre for Global Inclusion, USA. The challenges and solutions are based on the MARC team's analysis of data collected from 62 individuals, including 25 in-depth interviews. Volume III: A Training Manual for HR Professionals Volume III offers 12 training modules on gender DEI topics such as unconscious bias, microaggressions, the double shift, leadership, and organizational culture. It includes over 40 resources, such as activities, case studies, articles, and links to videos and TEDx Talks, each paired with discussion questions and learning outcomes. While each module suggests specific resources, users can adapt the material to suit their particular needs. The training material is designed for HR professionals and DEI experts to develop trainings for both SMEs and large organizations. It can also be used by individuals to reflect on their own practices and behaviours, empowering each of us to become a change agent for gender equality.
