Folder control effortlessly

Set folder rules once and forget them: one-way sync, file retention, dated folders. New in 3.0: live rule health in the menu bar, with alerts when a rule stops.
Are you weary of the tedious task of managing temporary files, like browser downloads cluttering your Downloads folder? Or are you searching for a seamless way to back up your working files? Look no further—afterFiles is here to effortlessly meet all your needs.
afterFiles sits in the menu bar and runs your folder rules in the background. Set them once and forget them.
KEY FEATURES
• One-Way Sync: Mirror a source folder to a target folder. Changes are picked up the moment they happen, and it reconciles again at launch so nothing is missed while the app was closed.
• File retention: Automatically remove files older than the number of days you choose. Folders are judged by their newest contents, so one holding recent work is left alone.
• Date folders: Create dated folders ahead of time, or keep a single Current folder that rolls over under the right date each day. Older folders are tidied away on your schedule.
NEW IN 3.0
• See every rule at a glance: what it targets, what it last did and when. A rule that quietly stopped is obvious.
• Health for each rule—green when running, amber when waiting for a drive, red when it needs you, with the reason shown.
• Pause and resume any rule, or run one immediately, without opening Settings.
• A notification when a rule stops, so you find out straight away rather than when files go missing.
Works with external drives and network shares, resuming when a disk reconnects. Sandboxed, with access only to the folders you choose. No account, no sign-in.

Status menu, rebuilt — every rule now shows what it targets, what it last did and when, with a health dot beside it: green when running, amber when waiting for a drive to be connected, red when it needs you, and the reason spelled out rather than left for you to guess.
Alerts — a notification when a rule stops, so a rule that can no longer run says so instead of going quiet.
Pause and run — switch any rule off and back on again, or run one immediately, from the menu or from Settings.
Edit rules — change a retention period, a date format or a folder count without deleting the rule and setting it up again.
Fixes — scheduled folder creation and file retention now run on time, syncing to external drives and network shares works, deleting a rule now stops it, and a folder on a disconnected drive is no longer recreated on the startup disk. Folder names containing an apostrophe save correctly, and retention no longer removes a folder whose contents are recent.
Various UI polish and small fixes.
