Borderline – UK ILR Tracker
BNO absence days & citizenship
Only for iPhone
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
iPhone
Built for BN(O) ILR. Track your 180-day rolling window automatically, simulate trips before booking, see the official rule behind every number. Free 3-day trial.
One trip can affect your UK ILR, US green card, or Canadian PR. Borderline tracks every absence day and shows your numbers next to the official rule — cited to the government source, on your phone.
Built for people who actually travel: BN(O) holders flying home to Hong Kong, green card holders visiting family abroad, Canadian PRs crossing back and forth for work.
Other apps count days. Borderline shows you the rule as the government wrote it — with the source link so you can verify every number yourself.
THE RULES, AS WRITTEN
• UK midnight rule — a day counts as "absent" only if you're outside the UK at midnight. Calendar-day counters over-report.
• Crown Dependencies split — Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man count as UK for citizenship but NOT for ILR. Most apps treat them identically.
• Rolling-window traps — a trip from 18 months ago can still push a rolling 12-month window past 180 days today. Sum-based calculators miss this.
• Single-trip thresholds — the US 6-month rebuttable presumption and 1-year residence break are separate from total physical presence. Borderline tracks both.
• Cited sources — every threshold links to the official rule behind it: gov.uk, USCIS, canada.ca, Japan ISA.
PATHWAYS SUPPORTED
• UK ILR — 180 days in any rolling 12-month period
• UK Citizenship — 450 days over 5 years, 90 in the final 12
• US Naturalization — 913 days present over 5 years, plus single-trip thresholds
• Canadian Citizenship — 1,095 days present in 5 years
• Canadian PR Card — 730 days in every rolling 5-year window
• NEW: Japan Permanent Residence & Naturalization — with Japan's guideline-based day limits clearly marked as guidance, not statutory rules
AUTOMATIC BORDER DETECTION
GPS detects crossings in the background, even when the app is closed. No manual logging.
TRIP SIMULATOR
Before you book, see how a future trip would change your numbers — rolling windows, single-trip thresholds, qualifying dates. Find the longest trip that keeps every threshold intact.
APPLICATION-IN-PROGRESS REMINDER
After you file your ILR, N-400, or PR application, toggle it on. Borderline keeps a reminder in view: travel during processing can affect a pending application.
PDF ABSENCE REPORTS
Generate a formal absence report to review with your immigration adviser or keep with your records.
MANUAL ENTRY, MAP, EXPORT
Backfill past trips (multi-country supported). See every crossing on a map. Export and re-import as CSV or JSON.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your travel history stays on your device and your private iCloud — never on our servers, and never tied to your identity. No account required. We use only privacy-preserving, anonymous analytics and never track you across other apps.
LOCALIZED FOR BN(O) HOLDERS
English, Simplified Chinese (简体中文), and Traditional Chinese (繁體中文) — including BN(O) visa terminology.
IMPORTANT: Borderline is an informational reference, not legal advice. It never decides your application — it shows your logged days beside the cited official rule, so you and your adviser can. Always verify against official records before applying.
Borderline requires an active subscription. 3-day free trial, then an annual or monthly subscription at the price shown in the app. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation. Auto-renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage in your Apple ID settings.

Ratings & Reviews
Our biggest accuracy release yet.
NEW: A redesigned Residency screen. See where you are in your qualifying period and every rule next to its limit. Tap a rule to see the exact trips that count toward it.
NEW: Japan pathways. Track Permanent Residence and Naturalization — with Japan's guideline-based day limits clearly marked as guidance, not statutory rules.
NEW: Cited sources everywhere. Tap any threshold to open the official rule behind it — gov.uk, USCIS, canada.ca, Japan ISA. Verify every number yourself.
IMPROVED: Clearer informational framing throughout. Borderline shows your logged days beside the cited official rule and leaves the judgment to you and your adviser.
FIXED: Canada citizenship no longer auto-credits days before your PR date. The IRCC pre-PR half-day credit requires temporary resident status, which travel history alone can't confirm — check IRCC's official calculator if it applies to you.
FIXED: A deep correctness audit across the whole app — leap-year rolling windows, one timezone convention across every tab, phantom border crossings filtered out, exports that re-import losslessly, and more reliable subscription restore.
IMPROVED: Fully localized in Traditional Chinese (繁體中文) and Simplified Chinese (简体中文), including every new feature.
