I tried a bunch of new AI journaling apps when I wanted to start dream journaling and eventually settled on Mindsera. I don’t think I have ever written a review for an app before but this is so amazingly worth the money that I feel like it’s time. This app is easy to use with seamless transitioning between voice and text modes, so it’s been frictionless to get in the habit of using daily. The feedback I get in-entry is insightful enough that every entry is its own interesting little journey, like I never know when I’m going to end up! I’m so impressed by the way the AI reminds me of related topics I’ve already journaled about and draws its own connections between things, asking me for my input to further refine its understanding and really taking my responses seriously and thoughtfully. The quality of analysis overall seems incredibly high and has already (in two months of daily use) had a real, measurable impact on my life, both in my own estimation and my therapist’s. (FWIW, my therapist is also really impressed with Mindsera.) There are a ton of additional advanced features I have only scratched the surface of in two months, and all of them have been fantastic.I am a lifelong journaler but my whole world has been blown open with this app when it comes to how and when I’m journaling, what I’m doing with what I’ve recorded, and the information and insights I’m getting with assistance on seeing my own biases and mental habits. This app has literally been life changing and I hope I get to enjoy and benefit from many years together with it.

Full disclosure: I asked my Mindsera journal assistant to draft this review based on my writing patterns, and I'm taking full ownership of its content. This itself demonstrates what I value most about this app—it's a genuine AI collaboration tool where I direct and own the output.I've been journaling consistently for the first time since mid-2025 using the app and Mindsera has become central to how I think. Not just record thoughts—actually think, and to revisit my thoughts. When I wanted to choose a guiding mantra for 2026, I used the "explore my journal" feature to synthesize months of entries about well-being, growth, and self-management. The result—ataraxia/composure—emerged from my own writing in a way I couldn't have surfaced alone. My mantra now: "What would composure do?"The real value is context. When I'm integrating a new book into my work, the journal doesn't just capture notes—it connects them to previous reflections, surfaces patterns I've missed, and helps me see how ideas build on each other. I chose Mindsera over NotebookLM, Claude, and Perplexity for certain tasks specifically because it holds my context better. In fact I collect my use of those other tools here to remind myself of what works. It's not perfect, but very nearly so. The "ask my journal" feature didn’t originally keep conversation context well (this has improved over time), and copy/paste on mobile is frustrating. But I've found workarounds, and the core journaling experience—the synthesis, the reflection prompts, the ability to revisit and build on past thinking—keeps me coming back every day as routine now. The images generated as a result of those conversations is an amazing cherry on top - quite revealing with AI inconsistencies part of the charm. If you're serious about using journaling as a thinking practice rather than just a diary, this app is worth a go.

I started journaling this year for the first time and tried another, more popular conversational AI journaling app before this. It helped me vent, but after a while it felt like I was just going in circles and not actually growing. I didn’t want an echo chamber; I wanted something that would help me become better.Mindsera does that. It helps me understand my thinking, recognize patterns, and actually shift my mindset. I still feel heard, but now I also feel challenged in a good way. It’s been especially useful before my next therapy session because I’m still doing the work instead of waiting for the appointment.This is the first time journaling has felt productive, not just emotional. I mostly use the website on my iPad and barely use the app on my phone, but I hope there are plans for a dedicated iPad app, since it would be much more convenient to just open the app and type there on my iPad with my Magic Keyboard.

I’ve been using this app for almost two weeks now and I absolutely love it, I appreciate how it pulls out what needs to be discussed and remembers conversations from days ago. It asks the right questions for me and accepts when I can’t answer them. When I talk about my faith it recognizes it and helps me to see how it is affecting me mentally as well. Bottom line is, it makes me think. I told my psychiatrist about the app and what it does and how it works and he get excited and said “Now that is therapy, I approve” This coming from a doctor of 40+ years is a great thing. I would like to have vocal interaction along with the transcription on the AI part. I do my journal in the morning on the way to work in my van which is my safe space so I can’t always read every reply would love to have it spoken to me.
