This release completes a backend modernization of SmishAlert. We moved to a first-party architecture using Google Cloud Platform services and a managed Postgres database. Key improvements: • Faster, more reliable message and QR threat analysis • Reduced third-party data handling • Improved privacy controls and auditability • No changes to user-visible permissions or data collection behavior All app functionality remains the same from a user perspective, with improved performance and reliability.

SmishAlert 2.0 is our biggest release yet. On-device ML message filtering New on-device model classifies incoming SMS as Clean, Promotion, Transaction, or Junk – working alongside Apple’s Unknown & Spam folders to keep scams and noise out of your main view. Improved reporting from Messages It’s now easier to report suspicious messages directly from the Messages app, with better integration into the SmishAlert reporting flow (and SIEM/MDR/SOC automation for security teams). Message & call reporting upgrades Report questionable SMS and spam calls with a few taps. Use the Messages app extension to submit screenshots (including visual voicemail/vishing and other messaging apps) for deeper analysis. Google & Microsoft sign-in for businesses Organizations can onboard through Google or Microsoft accounts, while consumers can continue to sign up with name and email. Managed users can be configured by their security team/MSSP so they aren’t prompted for in-app purchases. Each alert now clearly shows whether it was submitted from a screenshot or a QR code scan. Detailed Alert View lets you tap through to the original link found in a message or QR code.
